Was after one of these
Ordered thanks

Great find! Just ordered! Thanks OP!

I've got first model vivofit and whilst it lacks some of the features of more expensive trackers, it's been 100% reliable and after over a year, I'm still on the same battery it came with.

Do these have a stop watch feature for HIIT training? Anyone know?

No... These have a battery life of an old Nokia thanks to their simplicity.

Features:
time/date,
Heartrate (if wearing chest monitor),
Steps today
Steps until goal / over goal today
Miles walked
Calories burnt (active+resting)

Also able to see sleep pattern activity.

Waterproof to 1.5m

Can store 30 days data without syncing to phone/tablet app

No backlight but this contributes to the fact the battery will last over a year...

Only thing i wish it had was gps

is this the 1st, 2nd or 3rd edition of this model?

Can't see why you'd go for this over a Xiaomi Mii Band 2 at half the price - integrated optical HRM which is surprisingly accurate (not spot on, but not far off - using a Wahoo Tickr X for comparison) and you get smartphone notifications too with the Mii Band 2. And a backlight. I'm still getting 7 days out of a charge with mine.

Me neither, if what I have read from here about the Xiaomi Mii Band 2 is as good as it sounds. Unfortunately, like Tripadvisor I often find that people who don't really have a clue what they are talking about spout rubbish on the internet.

Can the Xiaomi Mii Band 2 be as good as people on here rave about? If so then most other fitness trackers may as well give up now!!

I actually own this Garmin - was the one that got me into it. What appealed was the 1year battery life. It works fine with the HR monitor, not sure how accurate.

What made me upgrade was it was annoying having to wear a separate HRM and also the strap clasp was useless.

Would I buy again - NO

Is this a good price with the HRM when you consider that alone is around £30+ delivered - YES

Worth buying just if you are after HRM IMO

It's the first model.

The hrm was a big part of why I bought mine too. It gives the same results as a phone app I have and by taking it from your pulse. I'm happy enough with that.

I also like using the garmin connect app, as it syncs very well to strava, as I cycle.

Does this have a sleep tracker?

This will sound crazy but the mibands HRM doesn't work on darker skin tones. after buying 2 this christmas ( one for my soontobe father in law and the other for myself) I now will have to go and tell him I managed to buy something that wasn't tested on black people and doesn't work properly on us "darker toned people" oO

If you download the free connect app it does. Not sure about other ones.

Anyone know if this works with vitality to get an extra 5 points a day on their health plan?

This or a Mi Band 2?

wow something I need!

You buy it for the ecosystem and social aspect. No one doubts that the Xiaomi is a better value product but with Garmin (and Fitbit) you get great app support and social stuff to go with it. If you just want a tracker for yourself then yes, the Xiaomi is probably better.

does this need to be charged by usb or is this like one of the polar fitness watch and band sets where the battery lasts about a year or so ? and that a new battery needs to be professionally replaced to keep the bands water resistance ?

Anyone know of a good deal on the Xiaomi Mii Band 2 and possibly post a link

Cheers

I've had this fitness tracker for years, and really liked it. The simplicity of put it on and forget is great!

I actually really like it as a watch as well, it's really small and light.

My main bugbear with this device, is that although it has ANT+, it doesn't connect to cycling sensors. I don't expect it to record rides, but it would at least be useful if it could identify when I'm on my bike, so that it stops counting steps. I ride to work most mornings, and use a Garmin Edge 520 to record my ride. By the time I get to work, I can have anything from 3000-5000 steps on the Vivofit.

Yes this has a sleep tracker, it tracks through the Garmin Connect app.

It doesn't have a stopwatch unfortunately.

I am quite the opposite, I bought this because of the inaccuracy of optical HR, and wanted to use my strap. I use a Wahoo Tickr which I have found is more comfortable than the plastic Garmin strap.

Re the clasp, Garmin actually released a free clasp called the "VivoKeeper". scarletfire.co.uk/viv…er/ Once I got this, it was much better! It doesn't look like this is included with these, but I've had success getting a second free one by tweeting the Garmin team.

It looks like it should do. I just completed the Vitality checker, and it recommended the Garmin Forerunner 25, but it also has this Vivofit as an option.

This is a known issue with some optical heart rate trackers, and has been mentioned by DC Rainmaker previously. The green light finds it hard to penetrate darker or tattooed skin. Some have added yellow light, which appears to help a bit.

It takes LR44 batteries which last well over a year. When they need replacing, it's simply a screw driver to change.
