Re-post of previously expired deal however now with huge £15.75 Top cash Back (or £15 Quidco) making this 1 year boiler breakdown service only £8.25 for the year including a free boiler service.

Just remember to set a diary reminder to cancel the subscription after 1 year and look for an alternative service.

£95 excess per claim.

If boiler is over 7 years old and is beyond economical repair then they pay a measly £200 towards a New one.
That's one of the reasons i choose British gas last year.
Also to get this price there is a £95 excess per callout.
It can cancel out any saving if you need to call them out a few times.

Not all that good a package... would rather a pay a bit extra and reduce excess.

For that price I'll wear the excess.

sounds a good deal on paper but the company comms and engineers its sends (eventually) sound awful. Heat though for the price

Are there any company who don't charge excess?

Note that when you click through from topcashback it sends you to the cover which doesn't include a service! If you clicked another link to the one with a service then topcashback would probably decline.

On another note I just completed a cheap 12 months with homeserve and last month made a claim. Engineer was great, service was fast and efficient.

I have British Gas HomeCare and no excess, no callout, and no parts charge.

Nothing further to pay other than the monthly direct debit.

I'm keen to know of a better policy if this one is no good? Most other policies have a £100 call out fee or excess for MORE per month without the cash back.

£8.25 for the peace of mind alone is fantastic and for a free boiler service how can anyone complain??

You've obviously never had to call them out in a boiler breakdown situation.

Although it sounds cheap, it MIGHT work out more expensive in the long run.

Scenario:
1.boiler breaks down intermittently.
2.You call them out.
3.The engineer replaces a part.
4.It starts working.He leaves.
5. 2 weeks later problem still there.
6. They come out and say it is separate fault. Another excess.
7. Go to point 3.

My sister in law had to call them out about 5 times before they eventually gave up and replaced boiler. Luckily she never had to pay any excess as she had zero excess policy.

How did she get the zero excess policy? Is this still available?
I just want to pay an amount every month and call them when needed... don't want to worry about excess and other small prints.

British gas home care.
All policies have optional zero excess.
I believe the policy listed in the op also has zero excess option at a higher price.

I am with British gas homecare 100 with zero excess.

I have only had to call them out once this year for a knackered circuit board.

They also gave me a free electric heater to get me through the night because they never had the part till next day.

The part alone was over £200 (engineer checked for me).

Money well spent.

I bought this policy early this year, they promised that the annual service would be done between April and September....I've had to call 3 times and each time they say they'll put me on some list. Their reasoning is that they'll wait for enough households within an area before sending out an engineer to do the servicing.

I think I'll be trusting some other company with my boiler in the future.

Also to confirm what someone above said, if you click through Quidco or TCB it only showed me the policy without the freebie service. In the end I worked out it would be cheaper if I just went with the free service and assumed we would only need one call out with excess paid. However no service yet so...

Edit: Just had a live chat with HomeServe, who arranged for an engineer to visit tomorrow between 12-5pm so we'll see how that goes. Really annoying that they couldn't do this when I actually called them over the past few months.

They might get funny if you can't prove that it has been serviced when it comes to callout.
Even if they are at fault for not providing annual service

When I posted this deal 9 months ago it reached a cold -257( my first post also).
Took the cover anyway and although I haven't claimed for a repair, the annual service was carried out without problem on the date and time arranged by a reputable local engineer ( sub contracted by Homeserve)
Basically a good option for a cheap boiler service, even if you forget the breakdown cover where else will you get your boiler serviced for £8.25.

Yes. But.... If you also want the cover then it is counter productive because they also offer the free service.

If it's just the service you're after then definitely good deal.

Some boilers come with 5 years parts and labor but the boiler has to be serviced annually.

This takes care of that.

Agreed, money well spent in my case also.

My previous property boiler was 7-10 yr old, had BG Homecare and over a 6 year period called them out at least ( I lost count) 15 times, EVERY part in the boiler was replaced over that period sometimes more than once, in my new house I haven't had to call them out - boiler is around 6 yr old so I'm expecting parts to start going shortly.

New (decent) boiler install would cost around £2k so £16 pm is good value IMHO, after about 12 yr old I'll look at replacing it with a more efficient one.

So what is the best way to get a service done if you currently have no cover on a 7 y/o boiler?

We had cover by home serve and they left us from the 23.12-6.1 without a working boiler with young kids in the house... Just kept promising someone would come out and they didn't... Can really not recommend!!

Service only, or breakdown cover ?

A quick quote on British Gas website and HomeCare 100 breakdown cover on a 7yr old Worcester boiler in my area would be £14.03pm, this includes an annual service and boiler and controls cover with no excess.

I'm guessing a service only from a small independant Gas safe company would be £100 ? I stress, I'm guessing on that figure.

My original post from 5 months ago is still valid (not sure why it was expired):
hotukdeals.com/dea…121

I just wanted a cheap boiler service as my home emergency cover will cover any boiler breakdowns. I had the service in August and the engineer was very knowledgeable and I am very happy with the service. I would say his service was as good as British Gas (I was with BG for 17 years).

I stand by this post as being a good deal compared to other similar suppliers offering £100 excess or £100 call out charges.

There is the added bonus of cashback reducing the price making this (sort of) a better deal. It's a shame this has gone cold because compared to similar offers from other suppliers with £100 excess/call out this is by far the cheapest before the cash back. With the cashback this is a steal even if you just claimed the boiler service and never used the breakdown service!

I don't think you will get cashback (I didn't). I believe cashback is only for policies without annual service.
£24 for an annual service is great value for money. Normal cost is around £75-£100.

Curiously, what would suggest they wouldn't pay up the cashback? The ad on their site is quite clear topcashback.co.uk/hom…ve/

If you follow the link to HomeServe, it says "Please note: This policy does not include a boiler service. If you would like to take advantage of our free boiler service offer please click here."
Last time they didn't pay cashback on the policy with free service. Not sure if they will this time.
