great for emergencies ...ordered

Had one of these, an older model, since July last year. Tried to use it for the 3rd time last week and it wouldn't work. Rang the number in the instructions and a nice German man said he would send me a new one. It arrived 4 days later and is this model. Can't beat service like that. Keep the receipt and instructions :-) Worth noting that it also works as a mini blow torch, great for heat shrink sleeving and small solder fittings
same with mine, died fairly quick.. but lost receipt and didn't think I would be able to claim on my warranty.

bought one from.china.. quite decent.. but to ignition feature so it's a pain to start

Actually looking for a portable heat shrink err.... shrinker! May give this a go
I use the vent from.the tip for heat shrinking.. or just get a cheap cigarette lighter for a quid.. probably better as it would cause less damage to the plastic cable sheathing.
Bargin, don't need one, think I will order one.

If you still have the instructions there is a helpline number. Can't remember but don't think he asked for a receipt or number. Just told him I'd bought it in Aldi. Worth a call ?
On the previous model they sold my tips quickly 'melted'. Dremel tips don't work.

Has anyone found 'compatible' tips?
nope. I actually bought a Dremel soon after, its been working since !

Take one into maplin and get them to find you one that fits.. I've got an older workzone one and there's a few maplin tips that worked. Sure they'll be the same for this one

When you say older model. isn't this exactly the same? just been brought back out onto the shop floor again?
I bought mine last year and can't see it being any different to this one.

Pic looks identical to the 'older' one I bought 18 months ago, so you're probably right
