Granted that the reviews are poor but looking at the spec I think this is a pretty good deal! I bought an unbranded 7" tablet from ebay for £63 less than a month ago (gone up in price now I believe) with 2 years warranty and accidental damage included. The screen was pretty reactive to hard touches (would touch 4 other points at the same time) so you had to be gentle with it. It also had no hard buttons like this one. Seems sturdy and has a brand but for that price not bad imho.

Here is the spec from the HMV page.

With its 7 inch Capacitive full colour screen and its powerful 1 GHz processor, the ARNOVA GBOOK combines the best of a tablet with the best of an eReader. Fully compatible with the common e-book formats, the ARNOVA GBOOK can even read DRM protected e-books thanks to Adobe Reader Mobile support built into the preinstalled Aldiko Premium application. The ARNOVA GBOOK runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich1 with all the intuitive software that will let you browse the web smoother than ever before, play HD videos in Full 1080p HD2, download and use your apps and, of course, read your e-books. And still at that ARNOVA affordability.

The ARNOVA GBOOK features a large 7 inch touchscreen. Thanks to the crisp 800 x 480 pixel display in 16:9 ratio you can surf the web just like on a PC or watch your full HD videos the way they’re meant to be seen. The powerful 1GHz Arm A8 processor sits inside an extra-slim 11.5 mm body weighing only 300 grams meaning that your ARNOVA GBOOK is perfect to gather around on the sofa at home or slip into a carry case for when on the go.

· eBooks
· Android 4.0 'Ice Cream Sandwich'
· Android Apps, including Google Play
· Internet & email
· Music, photos and video
· HD multimedia (1080p)
· 8GB
· Micro SD slot
· 1GHz Processor

Not to bad for the price. It even has google play.
There is a similar one at Argos argos.co.uk/sta…htm for £more.

You gave enough detail to get me interested.

The question is: would anyone have ever paid full price for this? No way!

Not bad for the price I guess but it still doesn't look like a very good tablet. That resolution is awful.

thanks

better to spend some more money and get beter product, but not bad for price

" Thanks to the crisp 800 x 480 pixel display in 16:9 ratio you can surf the web just like on a PC or watch your full HD videos the way they’re meant to be seen" Full HD films were designed to be watched on 800x480 screens? lol

There is no speaker on this unit. You need to use headphones.
Took 2 of these back a couple of weeks ago for this reason.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago for angry birds etc for my son's Christmas present...just be warned it has no speakers...the only way to hear sound is through headphones. Mine went back...because even through headphones the sound was intermittent. Now have the Arnova cobalt

already got one for my daughter great bit of kit foe the money

i was in hmv the other day and i saw this tablet and the thing was ****, slow, unresponsive and if you do click on something when it comes to the 2nd click it goes back to main screen so it was pointless to even try do anything and even after removing the apps that was open and a reboot, it still did the same thing, fine example to have on display aye lol.. hmw doesnt say, but im assuming this is an Arnova like its shown in store??

book tablets dont interest me, there are book apps for any tablet(got one on my sd card i think) so if i want to read via that id do just that and the other tablets pretty much arnt as limited as these book versions because they more proper tablet pc's..

only reason i even looked at it in the shop was because i was in there anyways and decided to check out the tech, i saw a ereader or ebook or something in currys the other day and the screen kept going on a spin so you couldnt even do anything lol, these tech books seem alot of money for alot of hassle.
