not what I would consider myself but for this price its closest to a decent point and shoot with a a zoom... Oh its not a real real bridge as the the bridge camera has a some manual functions.

If you have a tesco club card then you may have received a booklet of vouchers with a £5 off a £20 spend, so it may be worth checking for that

Good to give as a gift.

Seems good enough at that price

buy 2 and get £10 off with TDX-HF4K =£68 -3.5% quidco...makes it under £66...hot deal.

Great price for this really. Chuck one in the glovebox and have a super zoom ready to go!

I recently bought a GE X2600 (a bit better than this) as it was only £25 new and I thought I'd use it for teaching my kid photography. I produces some great shots - often better than my Fuji F750EXR which is a considerably more expensive camera.

I'm not saying that this camera will compete with £1000+ DSLR or even a £100 Fuji Bridge camera but I was certainly surprised by the quality of the GE. So, if you want a cheap Bridge Camera this is certainly worth giving a try.

Voted hot x

Any vouchers to bring this down even more?

Can these cheap as chips pretend bridge cameras do dof/bokeh effects at all?

I know no compact can do them properly and reliably (without messing around basically hacking it in).

a first time shopper can get £5 off using TDX-DV73

Got any more vouchers, to make it, say, free?

This will gobble up batteries.

A friend had one and it produced decent pictures, better than most compacts sub £100.

That is one hell of an ugly camera but not all good things are beautiful!

Hot............. (well it will do anyway)

This will gobble up batteries.

probably so but i don't see many if any complaints on the reviews of "poor battery life"...just take plenty or get rechargeables.

I hope their aircraft engines are better made

Actually I was surprised a just how long the batteries lasted on my X2600. Mind you, I deliberately turn off the flash unless it is necessary. I find that nowadays most cameras in Auto mode seem to think the flash should be used in every situation.

Cameras awful - price is standard

can you expand on why it is awful as I'm tempted by this.

Seems a very cheap option for a point and shoot style camera. I don't need another camera but if I was in the market for something to take snaps with I'd certainly consider this at this price!

Does this have a viewfinder? The Tesco specs indicate it does but can't see one on the rear of the camera. I've found LCD screens to be useless in bright sunshine.......

EDIT - just noticed a review on Tesco which says it does not have a seperate viewfinder....

Really?

Find me a better specced and performing camera for £40 then please?

It has it's limits, obviously, but regardless of those, this is good for £40. Thats pretty much what the review on the previous page says, and I'd agree with it.

Just bought one...sweet for the price

Whirly, where did u get GE X2600 for£25 new from?

Read all the reviews, bought one for my step-daughter's birthday present,as she is interested in photography and it's a good starter camera, easy to use by the sounds of it. Also bought one for myself as my Fujifilm S1200 is only a 10 mp and bought a few years ago. I wanted one I could just sling in my car. With accumulated clubcard vouchers and £10 off because it came to over £75, (TDX-HF4K) I paid £25 for the two at the checkout. Very happy with that!

It was reported in this week's Amateur Photographer magazine that GE are pulling out of the camera market in Europe completely. That's probably why these are being sold off.

Although the price is very low, I'd still find it hard to recommend one of these. That said I'm not sure where you'd find a better camera for £40.

To the person who was asking about Bokeh - forget it. These bridge cameras have very small sensors and fairly poor maximum apertures which makes that look very hard to achieve.

The amount of people that blow something off for no reason other than trolling seem to grow more and more on this site by the day.
