Well no one did ask you did they?

Yes i have 1 and yes i dont need 1,
Smart watches are actually great... just because they aren't for everyone doesn't mean they aren't great. In work places it's unprofessional to go onto your phone, but glancing at your watch masks that. In meetings, checking emails can be done, also smaller tasks like changing songs whilst jogging or in the rain really do make this an ideal gift.

I personally find Hugo boss watches tacky (well the mass produced ones at this price point), so comparing this to a normal watch of this price shows you're actually getting a decent deal, IF you can use the features.

If this is an item you don't need, just scroll past the deal? People hate because their lives mean they don't have a use for this, but everyone is different!

Excellent
Bought this last year for £261!
I still don't get why anyone needs a smart watch! Bloody waste of money if you ask me!
These were £200 on their site 3 weeks ago then went up to £220 and now £269 so cold from me.
I also get employee discount but that is only showing as £269 as well so all seems a bit poor to me and put up for Xmas......nice

As someone whom works in the tech industry...

I agree.

Would rather a classic timepiece - the last thing I want is notifications getting to my wrist, too!

Class timepiece, for under 300 quid lol
Why on earth would I want a watch with a battery that only lasted 4 days?
Or you can get the new gear sport for £272 delivered with new customer code at very.co.uk. Takes £30 off. Code.... LXJLX You can create a credit account but pay it off instantly like I did when the watch arrived.

Of course you would spend more; but I would rather by a £300 normal watch than a smart watch, right now (or save towards something that'll last longer than two years).

One day I might change my mind; they just don't do enough, last long enough, or look stylish enough to replace a nice timepiece.

The term 'smart watch' is meant to be ironic
ive used Samsung series from the start and always upgraded - the S3 Gear is the best barr the battery life after the Tizen 3.0 upgrade - but for me it avoid the annoying pull the phone out every few mins, unlock check, back in pocket - with the watch just turn my wrist and view eveything i need

God forbid people on a discussion forum having a discussion.

Been using smart watches since the release of the first gen moto 360, can't live without them. Being able to check and reply notifications while working in a lab with my hands full ("yeah sorry I did leave that solution out, feel free to put it away"), or while out training ("where did you guys say you were meeting for the session today") is so useful. Then all the other features like controlling the camera while your phone is on a tripod, quickly changing music, deleting emails etc while commuting on a packed train where getting your phone our is a pain, following maps directions without having to keep your phone out and in your hand; the list surprisingly goes on
I have no interest in this deal but thought i better come in here to make sure you all know how much smarter i am for not buying a smart watch and how much classier i am with my classic timepiece(timepiece is a way of saying watch but still letting you know how much better i am than you).

I hope that you all now change your mind based on my opinion of your purchasing decision.

Post of the thread
I like my Gear S3 a lot.

I am, however, thoroughly bemused by the reviews that talk about 3 day battery life. Maybe they have it switched off for two of those days...

I take mine off the charger at 0700 - by about 2200, I usually have about 35% battery left, and that is with relatively light use.

Of course, it could be that I'm just not smart enough for my smart watch. That would be disappointing if true.
Back at £299
Well I took possession of the S3 yesterday and can honestly say it looks impressive straight from the box very smart. But it's too dependent on the phone perhaps like other similar watches may be. I found the apps to be wanting and not very practical for such a small screen for the £300 asking price i felt it was somewhat lacking. It has a good selection of watch faces but again a lot have to be purchased as for the step counter it's not accurate at all. For the money quite disappointing I felt and will be returning it for a refund. I would at least expect it to be less dependent on the phone it's linked to and waterproof not resistant especially as the Samsung health app has a swimming function to monitor. I must be honest I usually love gadgets but this one is hyped up too much and is too expensive for what it delivers. Sorry I'm not a fan. Very disappointing. But perhaps my expectations are too high. A second hand one for less money may be more of a bargain for some but for a high end accessory it does not deliver that knock out punch in my opinion.
