GearBest - Voyo V2 Mini PC, Windows 10, 2GB RAM, 32GB Storage, 8000mAH Battery - £50.19

A mini PC with Intel Baytrail Z3735F Quadcore Px.

Similar deal is posted on HUKD for £65.20 but the key facts are:
- Official Windows 10 install
- Processor architecture supports H.264 encoding/decoding in hardware
- Essential for game streaming
- Option for 5000mAH battery & 64GB SSD
- £71 for this option
- Online reviews say this is slow access
- I suspect it's there to compensate for no TF card (uSD) slot on the chassis
- Priority direct mail (7-15 days) is less than £1 extra
- Expedited delivery (4-7 days) to UK is proportional to how many you buy (1 = £11, 3 = £4.50)
- Delivery insurance is available & proportional to how many you buy (1=£1.66, 3=£3.67)

My current uses for this are:
- Running Kodi
- Running Steam Big Picture to stream from main gaming PC
- Running Xbox app in Windows 10
- This streams from Xbox one, allowing remote power on & power off
- Xbox 360 wireless adapter (£4.50) for gaming controller
- DigiFlex remote (has app switch button) (£3.99)
- amazon.co.uk/DIG…PIS
- No keyboard or mouse attached, Win 10 Home does not come with RDP so using Google Remote Desktop is a good free way around this (RDP wrapper can be problematic due to the default login mechanism which is setup)
- A cheap mini USB hub (£2) can be used to extend ports if required
- amazon.co.uk/gp/…s00

My experiences are:
- Kodi is fast and smooth for media streaming (SD & HD)
- Control from phone or DigiFlex remote
- Steam is fine for 1080p @ 60fps, although 30fps is recommended as setup is tweaked
- Xbox App is great, although the controllers don't navigate the app yet (360 controller)
- The DigiFlex remote can be used for this (mouse pointer thumb stick)
- There are apps which can 'auto click' certain areas to launch the connection automatically
- The box can run a little warm, a lot of people on the web comment on this but I'm not convinced it's a problem
- The PSU has an EU adapter which can disconnect easily, but I found that using insulation tape was an easy fix (5V 2.5A adapter required otherwise)
- I have the Cenovo mini PC which I have compared this to
- The performance is equivalent (same Px, RAM size & ROM size)
- The Voyo is better looking & slightly smaller
- The Wifi in the Cenovo & Voyo can be intermittent (speed fluctuations)
- Some reviews online state the same issue, especially if using BT at the same time
- I mainly use LAN or HomePlugs so this may need more testing by other users
- Battery is a nice feature but I've never found a use for it (i.e. moving without reboot, use in the car with seat screen, charging phone when on the move)
- These are some of the applications I can think of but in my opinion they're not practical

Overall I think this is a great option for small clients (Media & gaming) hooked up to your TV with a central processing option for Game/Media hosting.

I haven't used this a day to day PC (which is why I don't have the 64GB SSD extension). I don't see why this can't run Office apps or browse the web well, if the Linx Tablet can do then these little boxes can do it.

How are you using an Xbox 360 controller with Xbox One streaming? I thought it only allowed the use of the Xbox One controller? Good deal though.
Id be interested in this to put at the back of my telly and play all my films off. Thinking of pairing with a keyboard with a trackpad. Can anyone see any problems with this?

It allows the use of Xbox360 controller. If you install a non-MS receiver you need to 'force' the driver.
- s-config.com/chi…up/

Once the dongle & Xbox 360 controller are connected do the following:
1. Open Xbox App & Connect to Xbox One
2. Enable Streaming
The Xbox 360 controller should allow you to now control your Xbox One. It won't allow you to navigate the Xbox App itself however, this only works with official controllers & wireless receivers.

I hope this helps.

I use this for my initial setup (as can't use RDP immediately) : amazon.co.uk/dp/…c=1.

If you install Kodi you should be able to stream your movie files from a USB source or a remote source over your network (i.e. media PC).
this or the chuwi hi8 pro? I've ordered the Chuwi but still waiting on stock but this claims to run cad and photoshop which is what I'm looking for a portable solution to do light cad and photoshop work while travelling?

Awesome thanks, will give that a try
Isn't this the device that most people have had problems with due to bad soldering on the battery connection ?

If so I would be avoiding this.
Still waiting on mine and I ordered on the 1st December. Some of these boxes have problems with not turning on due to bad wiring...

I had one of these from gearbest. It worked for a day, then failed. Costs more
To send it back to China than it costs for the device.
Nice small pc, but the internal
Components are cheap. Quick enough for Kodi but that's it. If you want to use it as a pc get a nuc.
Steam is fine? I would really like to know what level of games this mini PC can play?
with these reports of faulty cheap electronics I wouldn't want it anywhere near my home...

Have you actually tried this???. I thought it was only Xbox One controllers for Xbox One and 360 controllers for PC games.....?????, not on Xbox One streamed games???. I'd love to know if the 360 controller works one Xbox One streaming though.

Cheers,

Rich
This looks like a great device, although it's no use to me though.
Heat added.
Heat for the price - good post as well, lots of info on there, thanks!

Yes, I have tried this. I first proved on my main gaming PC, then as I distributed my mini clients & each worked fine. I am using Xbox App v11.12.9011.00000.

No problem, just remember you can't navigate the App with the 360 controller. You'll know straight away if it's working as if you start streaming & it doesn't detect a controller it tells you to connect one. good luck!
Looks good, tempted to get one for the bedroom to use as an Xbox One streamer

For the same money (or less) you can get a similar spec'd tablet, which can do everything this can and has the advantage of a display and touch screen interface...

Possibly something as lightweight as Minecraft it can handle in low settings but you're better off using steam to stream games from a different PC

Completely correct. that's why I lost my money... useless company never buying anything from them again.
They have a display and a touch screen, O365 subscription and are from a UK based company...
Given the similar prices I would steer towards a "standard" tablet, much more versatile. It's not hard to find a tablet with identical spec for very similar money (The Voyo is just a tablet without the display...)
But hey what do I know people are going to nitpick, this is HotUKDeals after all...
I have the cenove... have to say its great as a multi purpose kodi and desktop. It does get very hot in windows version though. It shorted out on me once playing a movie from usb so I think it needs some cooling, just for safety's sake. Definitely worth the upgrade from an Mx android box.
I have a Linx 10 tablet that I could use to stream Xbox One, movies etc, I could even hook it up to the TV via HDMI. The downside comes when I need ethernet (wifi isn't strong enough)......, I'd also need to plug in the game pad (or wireless dongle for the joypad)....so that's two USB devices and an ethernet cable into a tablet that has one micro USB port.....doesn't go. So something like this would allow me to stream.

you are doing it wrong then. I can play and install steam and origin games even on my linx7 which only has 1Gb ram. can play fifa 13 pretty good on low settings and many other steam games.
these little box's are what really makes a tv 'smart' ive had a similar one for ages now and love it, im amazed just how nippy they are and with it being windows it runs most things out there. i just wish they didn't incorporate a battery and then it could be even smaller
for a controller id recommend a sumvision air mouse, much better than those track pads

Hmm, it's at a price point I'm tempted as an impulse purchase to have a play with and use for some projects but Gearbest's reputation precedes them so I think I'll go go karting instead.
Although produced in Shenzhen, these were actually designed by a champion Welsh designer working for a prototype firm in Newcastle originally as a pet project and optimised for wifi and wii devices.
