lol yeah it was acclaimed when Epic owned it,this game is dead online and the most hated in the franchise .love that its failing and falling in price every other week.TC need firing and Ferguson.
The last two games have been pants, this one is better than gears 4 for horde mode which I mainly play but still it's so far behind gears 3 horde.

I honestly don't know how they have failed so badly, Epic passed over everything that was awesome and did all the hardwork and all Coalition needed to do was add to it, yet everything is more shallow and worse.
I really enjoyed the Campaign. Having played online to be fair but enjoyed the single player.

The most hated? What's this based on?
Loved the original trilogy. Judgement was dreadful and Gears 4 was pretty but more of the same. This follows that same path with being prettier but adding absolutely nothing to the franchise to carry it forward. The weapons are also worse. Part 3 had the best and remains the best in the franchise along with the original for me.

Plus I really can't recommend it even at this price when you can just make a new account on the Xbone and get 3 months of Game Pass for a quid. There's a reason this has dropped to half price in just two months. Sales have been poor no matter how MS try and spin it and if you're giving your biggest game of the year away for almost free what more do you expect?

Play it on Game Pass. The campaign is fun but gets repetitive with uninspired boss battles and the online is the same as it was ten years ago but at a smoother frame rate.

Such a shame to see one of my favourite franchises from the 360 stagnate like this. They should have just ended it at part 3 and retired it which is what Epic planned. MS just had to milk it though didn't they?
Gears 4 is probably one of the best games on the Xbox 1 console, when I think of exclusives.

The multiplayer is decent.

The campaign however sucked and I think it started go down hill when Marcus was looking for his dad in Part 3.

Gears 5 multiplayer seemed ok, but they have changed it a lot from what I recall.

This game will hit the £10 mark soon just like crackdown 3, it’s still better than crackdown.

This nexus76 guy repeats the same thing on almost every Gears deal GamingBolt gave it a 9, IGN gave it a 9, GameInformer gave it an 8.5, Destructoid, GiantBomb and GamesRadar gave it an 8. Even on PC the Steam reviews are mostly positive and PC Gamer gave it a 78 but nexus76 wants to convert us to his belief that the game is hated and The Coalition has destroyed Gears

The real truth is that Rod Ferguson lives and breathes Gears, with Epic all but giving up on the franchise, he made sure it would live on with himself and The Coalition moving with the times making sure it does not remain stale, stuck in the past and repeating the same thing over and over again for the last 15 years. Some people just don't like change and progress...
