I used to be a massive Gears fan. Lost count if how many times I’ve played the original trilogy through.

Gears 4 was meh, and I’m only half way through 5 but it’s not particularly exciting either.

Such a shame that so many great franchises have fallen from grace.

That dropped in price quick. I know it's available to rent on Gamepass. …That dropped in price quick. I know it's available to rent on Gamepass. Which worries me a little.

It's probably because it is on Gamepass.

Then again, it could also be that campaign-wise, it's miles better than 4 (not that that's any good measure due to how bad 4 was) but it's still really quite lacking in some ways that really matter which I suppose could be an issue.

No spoilers from me but by far the largest issue for me personally was the last act; what a masterclass in awful design after a certain point. It's that bad it really soured the whole game for me when placed in with my other niggles such as the very half-baked open world sections which felt like they wanted to go all "broad-linear" like God of War but then chickened out leaving, as (I think) Yahtzee put it, a commute across empty spaces.

It’s a great game, I think most games on game pass tend to price drop quickly because nobody will actually be buying the game if they can pay a few £ for game pass so I guess places just ship the stock out for cheap.
Used a free Gamepass code to play it.

Better than 4 but nothing about it was especially standout or memorable, it kinda fizzles half way through the game and suffers from some really strange pacing issues.

I'll add it to the collection when it drops under a tenner.

Heat for the current price!
Save your money fir cod

Props for the Yahtzee reference! I also completely agree with you. I distilled my thoughts here:

hotukdeals.com/com…006

I welcome the change in structure from a 100% corridor shooter (which was getting VERY tired by Gears 4 - a painfully mediocre game in every respect) to some open areas. I agree though that they were basically empty and only served to spread out the linear sections. Plus I couldn't help thinking all the time: "how is this skiff moving swiftly all the time irrespective of the wind direction?!".

Even though it was under-baked and the last chunk of the game put a massive dampener on it, I still had a good time playing through this one. Vastly better than Gears 4, in fact I'd say it's only bested by the first game (though that one has a special place in my heart).
Dropping likely because of game pass, but the myriad of mp issues probably not helping either.
is it easy to install on PC? i could never get Gears 4 to download for some reason it jsut wouldnt download.
Free with Gamepass - currently £1 for the first month with 6 months of spotify. A far cheaper method.
I bought GoW 4 and still haven't got around to playing it

Played about 30 mins of Gears 4 campaign then turned it off to switch to multiplayer which is probably the best game on Xbox 1.

Your worried because it's available to rent?

Now that's a sheltered life.
Wish it was this price on steam

Just what I thought. Gears 5 may look pretty at times but the campaign is very dull. The controls also still feel very dated. Them invisible walls are so annoying when you want to try and roam a bit.

Ever since it was taken over by The Coalition it has become crap.

See, I think “crap” is a bit harsh. They’re still decent games. But when it comes to Gears, “decent” just doesn’t cut the mustard.

I'll agree with that. They're OK. It's just that their a bit by the numbers but then again so are the Halo games these days.
Now £23.99
i only play for the campaigns and this one sorta sucked. the gunplay is clunky and tanky. kate is unrelatable and theres no resolution to her story. best thing i can say it has going for is the hdr, especially in the red desert planet
