Yep. And you could also slum it with a prostitute instead of going for a high class escort; buy lidl brand caramel bars instead of mars - buy a ford focus instead of a bugatti veyron. See what I'm getting at here?

oh whoops. thought it was founders cuz of the blower.

anyway better to get one with more fans. with better cooling maybe you can get 50% more performance than a 1080.

consoles are vile.

With the way the currency is going, buy now before its £2000 come April.

This triple fan Gigabyte Turbo looks like a better buy at £698.99.
No idea what clocks it will ship with yet but less likely to throttle compared to the reference/shroud designs.

£700+ is a lot to spend on a GPU so I'll be going Gigabyte or EVGA for the warranty.

Yeah although console gaming is more expensive...

- The games are way more expensive, especially when digital and their sales suck
- You have to pay to play online
- You have to buy a new one every 3 years or so because the old one has gone faulty or they've brought out a Pro
- You still have to buy a new HDD because the built in one sucks

You have none of the freedom you have on PC either.

I built my PC in 2012 for £500, all I've done to it since was put in an AMD 480 for £170 and I'm running everything still better than any console and looking better too. All the games I buy are usually on sale on Steam or gog or you can pirate them...

Meanwhile I bought a PS4 at launch and it cost £350, I had to buy a new one because it died, I lost all my saves because no cloud saves unless you pay for it.... free on Steam. That new console cost me another £250 and **** I had to buy three controllers since because the battery for the PS4 controller sucks. Every game on the digital store is so over priced I never buy there, I buy retail and have a crap experience because I have to keep changing the Discs out. I had to buy a new HDD twice because I kept filling them up...

The PS4 has set me back like £1000 and the thing sucks.

You can buy PS4 & a Xbox console but 1080 cards are expensive to play on PC real 4K is a next level I have 1080 SLI then you understand

I've previously avoided Zotac but it appears they've improved their RMA process and now have a UK returns address.
My last three cards have been EVGA so I'll probably stick with them if their iCX coolers score well in the benchmarks.
Definitely not rushing into a purchase, I shouldn't really buy one at all

Got the reference card from nvidia. delivered today. going to order EK water block. Any one looking for used MSI Gaming X 1080 please PM me..

Oh jeez, as much as I love gaming on my PC this is way more than I'd spend on a graphics card. About £200 is my cap. Second hand GTX 970s seem to be where the value's at right now.

Not a fan of nvidia's pricing either, seems they're always trying for record profits and a monopoly which ultimately hurts everyone.

£700 to play some games. Dear, oh dear.

totally hear you, they do overcharge, but they currently have the monopoly on top end graphics cards. if amd pull something out of their behinds in the up and coming vega's, maybe we will see some more competition in the market and pricing.

That was my point earlier in the thread. Some people will throw down £700 for a GPU to play a £30/40 game, and make reference to the admittedly overpriced console games. My techie side would love to go down the optimum component route, and build some souped up PC, with the best possible components, but not play a game.

I'll get a 4k capable console at some point, and for the few games I'll buy plus the console itself, I'll spend the change on getting what counts, namely the games, not a graphics card hidden inside a tin box.

well right now you need a £700 GPU to play games at 4K with respectable performance ... have fun waiting for that console oO

4k60 finally available for under a grand. Not that bad of a price to be fair.
