Basically they are an enthusiast retailer with a fiercely loyal army of rabid followers, especially on their forums. They know full well that the hardcore will pay more for the top-performing kit so they've pulled some frankly disgusting tricks in the past in order to fleece said army of followers for every penny they possibly can.

Reading through their forums when a new generation of hardware launches can be frankly disturbing. You wouldn't think that so many fools with more money than sense exists but they do.

First to add some heat. Nice find.
Cheaper at CCL by a few quid £372.60 and free delivery, this is on par with the 2060 Super and faster in some games.

you h8 them, but advertise for them, lmao, as said cheaper elsewhere

I posted it because I like some of the folks in this community and I thought it might be useful to someone. I'm certainly not advertising for them and I've made my opinions on them quite clear on this forum many times over.

If it's a few quid cheaper from CCL then please buy it from there. They have the added bonus of not being douchebags.

The whole binning thing that they admitted to was not fun. Luckily i never brought a cpu from them .. CCL, scan, box, ebuyer, currys and amazon are the ones for me .. OCuk i will only buy if i really want something that they sell that others don't

Get the Gigabyte Gaming OC 5700 XT if you want a top quality card.

CCL posted a mobo without any protection except for a bag to my brother, it got bashed in the post. CCL tried to claim that was fine... at least OCuk send things in a box.

No retailer is perfect, not even a highly coveted Amazon. OCUK have actually behaved like con merchants in the past though whereas to my knowledge at least, CCL have not.

Their current CPU's are awesome but I would need a lot of persuasion to touch an AMD GPU again.

I would stay away if I were you, stick with what you know and never change, I find that works out best. When you next change your graphics card in 2/3/4 years time I am sure just ignoring AMD/Intel would be the best option.

I admit to being a forum member (free shipping perk) and bought the bulk of my last system from them as they were happy to price match the 2080Ti I wanted (by nearly £300, which helped offset the other, less competitive items ) - but they weren't at all competitive when putting together my son's recent, more budget rig.

I have noticed a fair amount of price-gouging and blind loyalty in some of the Spec-Me threads, but I saw the same in Novatech's forum...

Always had decent aftercare from OCUK, to their credit and unlike Novatech (horrendous attitude when trying to return an M.2 drive under DSR) - maybe I'm just lucky.

I'd have to say that I think they try hard, but to be honest you can't compete on price if you are trying to offer proper customer service, unless you are the size of Amazon and there CS attitude is "we will just refund you even if you return a dead rabbit instead of your M.2 drive" but OCUK's gouging is ridiculous, and I tell people to actively avoid buying parts from there, we aren't in a market stall environment you shouldn't have to call up and barter to get the price you want.

The fact is that they have been going a long time now, and back when they were a new company and offered something you couldn't get elsewhere, they no longer have this USP, the only USP they have is funding the purchasing managers next Ferrari by Overcharging U (O)K?

Well said. They've always given off an arrogant elitist vibe to me, although I haven't bought anything from them in years so they may be better now.

But I remember the 1080ti photoshopping incident being the last time I visited the site - and when the boss responded to all the criticism he basically just laughed it off and acted smug about the whole thing.

It happened the same to me with CCL when I bought a MSI Mortar B450. The motherboard box, no extra protection, all botched up, and hit around the VRM area. Never again from them.

I have left them 1 star on TrustPilot, and I received a nasty phone call from them after that.

Wait, you mean OC are even worse than ebuyer?

Are there any decent PC parts places left besides Amazon? Only one I ever found reliable on the past was dabs, before BT took over and f***** things up.
Never had an issue with OCUK in the past, even RMAed like 10 cards in a month and they dealt with it all fine... free delivery too when youre a forum member. OCUK was bought out or go a new manager YEARS ago, he totally turned the business around, even started making in house brand GPUs.

But nothing beats amazon.

And the other thing, the AMD 5700 range is good hardware but has driver issues like always... id go for this over a 5700/xt any day its literally pain free gaming while the AMD cards will just give you a headache, the only reason Nvidia still charge stupid prices is because they know AMD suck at drivers... when AMD finally get on par with Nvidia with drivers, they will over take them, theyve offered better hardware for years now, from the 7970 year vrs the 680, AMD cards came with 3gb VRAM while Nvidia 2gb and were around 50% faster hardware wise but the drivers sucked so bad it took them like a year to get them out and then Nvidia just released the 780 and destroyed them.
They sold me a B grade power supply as new. It was crudely repackaged and re shrink wrapped.

I wouldn't be at all be surprised if they 'check' a lot of CPU/GPU/Memory for best binning for personal use, or use or sell off for higher cost.. with the rest ending up to the regular Joe.

Had other issues from them which I shall not name, will never trust them again. These guys are cowboys. Avoid at all cost.

What happened, out of curiosity. I've really only heard nightmare stories from AMD cards, and very few NVIDIA nightmares, but for some reason I thought you were an AMD GPU user? This isn't some bait to argue, just fyi
Great price for a 2070, but not a great card - with only 3 display outputs, one of which is DVI.

Don't count your chickens with Amazon either - I received my B450 Tomahawk MAX yesterday. It arrived just in the retail box with my address label on it. NO protective packaging at all, it had just been left to be bashed about in the back of a delivery van.

The motherboard had made marks in the cardboard on the inside, it will have to go back as I am not doing my build until after B/F and I can't believe it will not have been damaged. Amazon are normally over daft with their packaging too, I bought lego last week and it had their air bubble wrap around it. This arrives with no protection at all, go figure!?

No it's because the CPU is a mid-high end gaming CPU, albeit an extremely competent one (I actually have that CPU myself). The problem is that they've teamed that mid-range part with the best consumer GPU in the world right now, thus limiting the future proofing potential of the overall machine.

Well, I've just been informed that because EVGA aren't going to meet the 28 day deadline to return my 2080Ti (Thanksgiving closures), they're going to send a new replacement out instead. Can't really say fairer than that.

I appreciate you've had a bad experience, but compared to some other companies (Ebuyer/Novatech - who's Purchasing Manager drives an obnoxious green GTR), they've been nothing but helpful and courteous when it matters; I don't mind paying a little extra if that's the level of aftercare I can expect.
