The half price beauty sale at M&S has already been posted but I thought this particular item was worth highlighting as it's a fab deal. Apologies as pic does not depict the exact set, but couldn't use the pic from the M&S site for some reason. Please check link for exact set contents.

If you get your nails done with Shellac or Gel you'll know how bloomin' expensive it is. For the price of one manicure you can get this DIY home set with one (seemingly random) colour- additional colours are around £12 but you can find them on 3 for 2. I've toyed with buying one in the past but not seen such a good price.

Red Carpet Manicure Holiday Gift set- also known as the Gel Polish Essential starter kit. Includes:
On the go light with usb cord, 2 oz cleanser, prep – max adhesion, structure – base coat gel, brilliance – top coat gel, lint free wipes, orangewood sticks, instruction brochure, One colour of either of the below shades. Visionary goddness, diva in disguise, best dressed, nervous with anticipation, secret society

No reviews on the M&S site but reviews of similar sets on Amazon are mostly positive:

Great Price point ! I use Red carpet stuff most of the time, have tried others but this is the best if you have weak nails like me, I love the structure base layer. A manicure can last me 2 -3 weeks.

Thanks so much- part of the reason I've put off the purchase is not being sure which brand is better. I like CND when getting it done in salon, but the kits are so pricey. Very excited to try it now, bought 4 extra polishes in the sale section of the Red Carpet website too for £6.50 each

This is an absolute steal!! I’ve been using red carpet for years now, brilliant bit of kit & has saved me a fortune vs having a salon gel polish. You can mix & match polishes with other LED brands too, I’ve used Sensationail colours before but my fav is IBD Just Gel. As far as I know you can’t use CND polishes with this lamp as it won’t cure them completely. YouTube is great for tips on how to apply & make them last the full 3 weeks.

You've convinced me to get this thanks. I do find the removal a little off putting but hey ho. I've only ever done my nails so I'm new to this manicure /gel thing

It's more of a faff than removing normal polish but not too bad. To take my shellac off I don't buy the special wraps or anything- just get yourself a bottle of the remover. Soak cotton wool pads and put on your nails then wrap tin foil around them, and after 10 minutes it will crumble off. The CND remover even smells nice and feels moisturising.

Once you go gel you'll never go back- literally don't see the point in normal polish anymore as it just chips so fast!

Yep it can be faffy, but once you suss the technique and get them lasting the full 2-3 weeks it really isn’t that bad as you’re not having to redo them that often.
If you find they chip a bit to begin with while you’re practicing, don’t redo the full set- just soak off & repaint the one nail

Can this kit be used for pedicures?

I plan to even if I have to do a few toes at a time. Probably depends how big your feet are as its only designed to take 4 fingers at once, so I don't think I could fit my whole foot in.

Just to report I picked my set up at the weekend and very pleased with it. My nails look nice and shiny like when done in the salon, although obviously not quite as neat! Practice certainly needed. Oh and the light is big enough to fit my foot under so you can certainly do toe nails.
The Red Carpet Manicure website has loads of colours half price in the sale, plus I ordered the essential tools kit and cuticle oil.

It's worth mentioning the light comes with a USB cable only, no plug- I know the majority of us will have a USB plug spare but worth mentioning.
