Wrong category.

Tempted to try but thinking graphics performance at that resolution will be an issue

Also running jellybean I have bought a few tabs from joytab which look identical to these all have broken down.

Good specs for the money but

"Android 4.1 - Jelly Bean - The latest Google OS."? in 2012!

Cheap media player with added portability. Seems good value to me.

I got one for a birthday present coming on for 18 months ago. Only comes with Amazon, but I found a play installer on Modaco, but this link is now dead. Other than that it has been very good and feels fairly good quality. Cannot fault for the price, OS is getting on a bit now and no updates. I am a PC/Laptop person, but I use it regularly with Plex and Now TV.

I assume you can just install the latest OS manually, or any OS you want yes? For example Lollipop or KitKat?

.... and an 8 inch Lynx Windows 8 tablet goes 2000 degrees (_;) You could fry an egg on this deal! oO

At that price it sounds a bit to good to be true?

good find op, heat added

Exactly why I voted cold, the specs sound good, but the OS is too old, even KitKat is pushing it really, it should be at least Lollipop now for any Android tablet over £40 in my opinion.

Oh wow, a tablet 33% cheaper running an OS 3 years newer is getting more heat? Who would have thought it? In case you only care about Android, you can apparently put Android 4.4.4 on a Linx tablet, so would still have an OS 2 years newer by swapping to Android and that wasn't even supported out of the box on the Linx.

Good price but version of Android is too old.

I had one of these not the same make but same spec last year their are a few of these tablets all identical under different brands but all the same. I had it a few weeks and sold it, it was useless very slow to the point it was unusable. Do yourselves a favour and save your money as you wont be happy with this tablet, everyone's going look its a Retina display but its nothing like a ipad. I took mine on holiday to Greece last June to use for Plex and to watch British TV in the hotel room but found my tablet would freeze randomly and needed a hard reboot i also found its speakers to be very low while watching media to the point you could hardly hear the voices and it was of bad quality, in the end i pulled my Missis Samsung Note 8 and used that it was way better. When i came back i packed it away and a few weeks later sold it for £70 keep in mind i paid £100 and only used it for a week so it was brandnew it was also on Jellybean and their was no roms i could find at the time.

A couple of years ago I bought a Gemini Joy tab each for me and my wife...they both froze up and wouldnt respond with a few weeks.(got refunds for both)

It wasn't this model and didn't have as good a spec as this ..so maybe this will be fine .but it has made me wary of their products

PS just bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet featured in a recent deal on here (still alot more money than this though) and am so far loving it.:)

Couldn't you install another version of Andoird on it though? KitKat or Lollipop? the specs seem good enough for them?

The specs may well be able to handle KitKat or Lollipop, but unless anyone has compiled a version of either for this exact tablet (or one with exactly the same hardware, not just similar specs) then you would need to compile one yourself, and to get some idea of how difficult that may be, just look at how many devices people request Cyanogenmod for that never get released, or look at how many phones have third party roms that are buggy as hell.

I might take it for the display.

Fair point, i'm considering getting this cause of the size, but the linx 8 looks so much better for price.

Have the linx 8, good but need an android tab, their more useable. Windows app store is poor.

Yeah I was thinking that, maybe if you lower the resolution abit even down to hd would still be decent for the price?.

Don't think it got Gorilla glass though... Possibly Macaque or Chimp.

ideal world punt these terrible reviews

Those complaining about the old os, have you looked into installing a custom ROM

"Android 4.1 - Jelly Bean - The latest Google OS."

Erm what???

No way the battery is 8000 mah.... hype.

Another option for similar money here;

It's not a tablet though its a dual sim phablet. However the screen is inferior and there is no hdmi out but its quite fast despite the chipset meant to be 1.3ghz for the cpu on mine it's 1.5ghz. Seems fast and great to have phone functionality on top. Marginally later os and it does have gps, better cameras and reasonable battery life. Mine came straight through without custom charges and took about 3-4 weeks to come. It seems to be a clone of the Samsung N9106

Decent size tablet, for the money,on Aliexpress but a really poor resolution on a 10.1" screen.
Out of the two I'd prefer the one the op posted.
I'd read up first.
Ps: I ordered the Linx 8 too.

The resolution is ok but not ideal. This HP laptop I'm using now is 1366x768 on a 15.6" display and its fine. I can't see individual pixels.

Currently Not Available

I *think* these are RK3188-based.

Waaaay too slow for the retina screen (I have an Aoson M33 which is essentially the same unit).

However there is an unofficial Cyanogenmod for these tabs and it works reasonably well -- still laggy though as the chipset can't push the pixels fast enough.

Original Poster

If you can root it then change the pixel density from 264 ppi to 234 ppi using something like "Texdroider DPI" that would make it a decent 1920x1200 (same as yoga tab 2 10.1), I would imagine it would boost performance a bit.

Thank you for that... Had I noticed when I was posting the deal, I would of definately cut that out :).

Resolution is too high for the processing power. Otherwise, I like it.

Avoid this brand please. When you have problems with it and you will because of the poor quality they say, send it to us and they'll fix it for a small price and then say they won't send it back until you pay a "new repair price"

I have an 8" Insignia Windows tablet running 8.1 and generally speaking really don't like the experience compared to android or iOS based tablets. Desktop is too small to be practical and the apps are very limited. I perhaps need to read up windows tablets to see if I'm doing something wrong.
