IF this description is correct Brand New Genuine Dell 19.5v 4.62A Ac Adaptor + UK Power Cord
Then this may not be a PA 21 which is 65 Watts but the next model up which is 90 watts, a bonus if it is for those who need a higher wattage PSU.

I cant get free delivery even when i click on it...anyone else haveing the same problem.

Same here. Delivery £2.75

Thats because your trying to buy the wrong item ;-)

Its the one sold by Dell Spares, its in the right pane on the landing page, not the main deal shown.
Amazon sometimes make it almost impossible to direct link to some products.

Oh er I see what you mean now, its not giving free super saver is it!
I can only suggest a call to Amazon to get the postage refunded, they have a freephone number.

Ok, I just talked to Amazon customer services and they will refund the postage if you select free delivery, they are also going to advise the web engineers so they can fix the problem.

Not impossible, just difficult :-D

Direct link here:- amazon.co.uk/gp/…1EB

just add ?m=A2EGBB68IZF1EB to the standard amazon url, where "A2EGBB68IZF1EB" is amazon's ID for DELLSPARES. (?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE is for goods sold directly by Amazon)

I bought a new adapter for my Dell as it stopped charging and wouldn't work straight from the mains, but the new adapter made no difference.
I don't know if it is the power jack on the motherboard causing the problem?

Has anyone else had this with a Dell? Thanks for any info!

Any idea if this would work on my Studio 1555? I was going to buy the Targus one from Play until they cancelled my order and the spec of that was fine for my 1555.

One of the reviews reports getting a 65 Watt one (3.34A rather then the advertised 4.62A), unfortunately the review doesn't indicate which one of the suppliers it came from amazon.co.uk/pro…ing

Would this work with my Dell XPS M1530 Laptop?

just bought this on ebay for just over 10 quid. Received it 2 days later. I know ebay is not really included in this but have a look...

Good price................

The problem is not the adapter but your battery. Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles. If you charged a battery that was at hafl capacity to full capacity, that is one half of a charge cycle. Typically, your laptop battery would have about 500 charge cycles. Leaving the laptop plugged in with the battery in will consume charge cycles. While the battery is being used, the mains adapter will recharge it, keeping it topped up. This is why batteries should be taken out when using mains adapters (unless the battery is sealed as is the case with Apple laptops and smaller devices).

If the charging light is lit then I'm afraid you need a new battery rather than a charger and be careful with recycled batteries as charge cycles will be unlikely to be as high as newly manufactured batteries. If the charging light isn't lit you may well have a faulty connector (it can easily be resoldered).

Was it a genuine dell adaptor?

This 65W adapter probably would work and you will receive a message on POST from the BIOS. No damage will be done (since the current is reduced and the voltage is still compatible) but you should use a 90W adapter though.

Thank you for your reply. That is helpful.
The battery had not been charging for a while, but the laptop had been working ok when plugged in - then it stopped.
Now I have no charging light, no nothing.
I will try a new connector, and see if that helps.
Thanks again.

If there is no charging light, then from my experience the most common fault is the connector but another possible fault is the DC to DC board which takes the DC current from the adapter and transforms it to several other DC supplies to the board, CPU, and other components.

yeah if it was a d510, 520 or 530 i'd say it's the circuit rather than battery or charger. Just recently threw 25 lappies away with that problem.

does anyone know if this is the 90W ?

They shouldnt really be advertising that its for the E1705 / 9400 if its not. I am currently using a 60W as my original died somehow. I get that message whenever i start it up saying my laptop wont be running at full performance.

This is good price for adapter.

have a volstro 1510, had similar problem problem appeared to be on motherboard as adapter chip was not recognized, google on above issue and there is tons of literature..although cheap in price I would stay away from dell from now on..
one more suggestion, when buying dell always get 3 year warranty whenever possible or buy with credit card which gives extended warranty.

The spec says "19.5v 4.62A". Multiply this out and you get 90W.

I need the 90w version for dell vostro 1700 and it's £55 on dell website !!!

accessories.euro.dell.com/sna…168

for the moment I am using the charger from my other dell and it works perfectly, no error message (so it was the charger to blame for the error message).

so 2 laptops and one charger ... but £55 for a charger is just too much!!

I have a Dell 65w / model no. PA-1650-05D, PA-12 Family

bought it as a spare and don't think it's ever been used (looks immaculate) - if anyone is in need of one, I'll sell it for a fiver + postage (ono - or collect from London/Surrey)
