Good price for a Samsung branded battery. Sold by Amazon, not a Marketplace seller so should be genuine.

Very good price. Heat Added

All 3 reviews are for other sellers - just get the one fulfilled by Amazon and you should be safe. Otherwise there is always their excellent returns policy

Hot but I find my S3 has awesome battery life so don't need it. Agree if you buy through amazon you should be fine. The others are clearly selling fakes.

Same.

If not bothered about official, then may consider amazon.co.uk/gp/…ers
this has 2 battery and a charger with it, good reviews too.

No NFC though. Not that i've ever used it......

I'm assuming NFC is Near Field Communications? Anyone know hows that link to the battery and what feature/function you will lose? I quite don't understand this. Thanks

Shengis

Same.

Yeah, especially having had the S2 - the battery life on the S3 is so much better. However, although I don't NEED an extra battery I may still end up buying the unofficial Anker ones with the charger as kyeung posted above. Sometimes going on long train journeys or even flights it would be nice to have a backup just in case.

Superb - cheapest it's ever been by a long way! Ordered - thank you. HEAT!

Good deal if genuine. Even Amazon sells grey stuff now and again, but yet to encounter a fake.

Does this battery come with NFC, since its the official one? The description does not say if it does or not.

The NFC chip doesn't actually use any power when it's switched on (when not touching another NFC device), it's pretty much the same as an Oyster card or contactless payment credit card.

On most if not all Samsung Phones the NFC data chip is in the battery, so with a non gen battery you would get no NFC.

If like me you use NFC all the time then it's a no go, But if you never use it then i can understand not bothering with a gen battery

The antenna is built into the battery. Third party batteries do not have the antenna official Samsung batteries have and that is why you lose NFC unlesss you have a genuine Samsung battery.

Genuine lol

Got this 3 days ago for £12 damn... It does have the NFC though I can confirm that. Friend with a one x gave it a try at work the other day.

Genuine

Obviouslly, is there another manufacturer that ignores patents?

OK so I just got a new S3....is there any reason to be buying a replacement battery right now for when my current one starts to fade or would I be better just waiting til that time comes? Will the replacement lose any of its power capacity if not charged/used for a year or so?

wait it will be cheaper when the s4 comes out, youll probably not need a new battery if you plan to change your phone when your contract expires, only buy if you plan to go camping or something like that where you think youll not be able to charge your phone.

What charger do you recommend for charging this battery (without it being in the phone)?

Cheers

Thanks all for answering the NFC question, really helpful. I'm a new S3 user still learning after moving away from Iphone

NFC is a gimmick that phone manufacturers use to sell you something you will never use.
Nearfieldcommunication.org claim silly things like:

Busy moms checking out at the grocery store
Businessmen and women riding the subway to work
Businesses looking for faster, more secure payment methods for customers
Students touring a museum

Forget it, you'll never need it.

I purchased this one solely because it is so small. It's not the cheapest one on ebay, but it works fine for me. The description states that it comes from Hong Kong but mine was posted from South London and I received it in a couple of days.

I disagree, it's handy for sending music/large video files to other S3 so much faster than Bluetooth users with the help of wifi direct, so unless you have/use S3 with this feature, sshhhh.......

It's a feature I use often, as for paying for things, that's what cash/cards are for, would you really want your card details stored in your phone, then say, god forbid, it gets stolen, easy payments for the "new" owner of the phone.

Was covering your point of "you'll never use it" everyone uses devices differently, just because YOU wont use it, doesn't mean other users wont....... **not sarcasm**

I wasn't arguing a point to use NFC for payment methods, there are more uses for it than that, but clearly you think NFC was ONLY designed for contactless payments, more fool you.

£11.59 now

just ordered , good price

Deal appears to be over unfortunately

For the record NFC has uses, and will have more uses in the near future.
1 useful idea I have seen it used in is when you go to a new coffee shop or something, you can tap your phone on an NFC tag to automatically connect to their wifi instead of having to go through settings selecting the ssid, and type in all the numbers and letters of the password.

Gutted, EXPIRED

It is back to £8.69 again!

Reasons to have NFC : samsung.com/us/…le/

Reported to be unexpired btw

it may be a nice price but i don't see the case I would need to use a spare one anytime considering:

1. I've got a 5quid portable battery charger and you don't need to open up the back shell everytime it runs out of power

2. Long battery life time as some says, so by the time my contract ends I can switch to a better phone and forget about s3.

I just bought one
