Just so people are aware, this cable will most likely NOT charge your phone. The data cable and charger cable pins are in different locations and any Sony Ericsson "data cable" I've seen so far only allows data transferring and no charging. The description also makes no mention of charging the phone.

I say this because I recently bought a w810i which included a data cable. It does not charge the phone and on closer inspection to find out why I noticed the charger cable pins and data cable pins are in totally different locations.

Great price all the same though.

I've got a K810i which came with a data cable, and this also charges the phone at the same time:thumbsup: - I did have to install the drivers first though.

Cheers.

my w810i also charges by data cable but dont see the point because it takes 10 years to charge by usb.

If its the cable it came with then I'd check again. If you put the phone into usb mode the battery charging symbol appears but it's not actually charging the phone. Don't believe me then wait until the battery is almost drained and plug it into the data cable to get the charge symbol and leave it for an hour to see if the battery actually charges up. I thought mine did too but It doesn't so I checked it out online and found a load of other people complaining about the same thing. The metal contact pins on the data and power cables are in totally different places.

Your phone will only charge with the SE USB Driver installed which is part of the SE PC Suite on the SE website or is supplied on the CD that came with your phone.

I already tried that but the battery doesn't actually charge.

If you go into the system menu on an SE phone, you can select whether you want charging via USB i think.

Mine arrived today form Qfonic, and its definitely charging my w890i looking at the phone status in the information screen. I think you need the drivers installing, as I tried in on a PC without the SE PC Suite and it didnt seem to charge it at all.

£2.49 for a USB charger and data cable? Absolute steal.

My new cable is charing my phone, without installing any drivers. Mind you, it's a Linux machine I plugged it into, where I didn't need to install drivers to transfer data to/from the phone - Linux recognises the phone as a USB mass storage device straight away. I have to admit I haven't tried installing apps over this connection - I use MyPhoneExplorer under Windows for this...
