Just been in asda and picked up a grey pinstripe suit for £25.

Its actually reasonably respectable looking for the £££. There was also a black one that looked awful (really cheap and nasty).

They are priced up at £19 for the Jacket, £6 for the trousers and if you buy both together you get as free shirt and tie priced at £7 from the easycare range.

Seemed like a bargain to me so i bought a second pair of trousers too. £31 for the lot.

They had loads on the racks too!!!

Cheap suit, but not good for the people making them (www.waronwant.org/news/press-releases/16684-asda-matalan-slated-over-poverty-pay).

Dam. I bought the jacket and a tie on its own for £23 a few days back.
Think I will return them only to get a shirt and trousers for £2 extra.

Voted hot - absolute bargain

If I'm right that's a South Park quote, nothing to get too shirty over

So when is your court appearance? (Joking.)

OK for a 16 year old going to a wedding where he's still gonna grow and may wear it only once, but get a half decent one once you've stopped growing? Especially once you read the attached link.

Anyone know what material is used for these? The trouser is stated as 100% polyester oO but no info on what the jacket is made of.

Ha ha, I was gonna post that

good deal

Good deal. What the workers get paid is NOT related to the price you pay. The people working to make cheap clothes might even get paid more - they are not on a percentage! I wonder where we'd be now if other countries had refused our goods 200 years ago because of conditions in our sweatshops!

That's true enough, but seeing they are originally cheap it's most likely that an element of exploitation is involved.

So our nation's attitude 200 years ago can be used to justify actions in in the 21st century??? "Ahh we supported the slave trade back then, so its OK now too....."

You are correct, but exploitation has nothing to do with price. Remember all the Nikke exposures - they can pay someone 5p to stitch a football and then sell it for £50. You can pay the same employee 10p (double the wages) and sell a teddy bear for 50p.

The point about slavery isn't valid in my opinion. Our sweatshops here exploited the workforce and we're still benefiting from that industrial revolution now. I don't think we have a right to stop developing countires from developing by applying our new standards.

There is a very logical economic reason why people in these countries are paid the wages they are paid. Which are actually very good wages compared to the average national wage.

If the guy stitching cheap clothes together in the factory was paid a western wage in say, vietnam, then he'd be earning 50 or 60 times the national average. Which would mean he was earning more than Doctors, Surgeons, teachers, nurses, etc. So there would be absolutely no reason for anybody in vietnam to aspire to be anything other than a worker in a western factory. So all of the other jobs would be abandoned.

So the whole 'slave wages' thing in the developed world, isn't actually as cut and dried as some people would have you believe.

I think the issue most people generally have with 3rd world "sweat shops" is the long hours and appalling conditions, not so much the hourly rate...

Same price as primark but much cheaper quality.
Got one of these George suit for my grandad before xmas and it now looks very worn out (after wearing it three times)
One of the suit I use for work is from primark, wore it everyday for three weeks and no even a crease. Trousers been in w/m 5/6 times, no problem.
Before anyone attacks, This is my personal experience and it is only my personal opinion.
I may be wrong and my statements are not intended to be the holy truth.

Are the Primark ones a mix of materials or 100% polyester also?

Very disappointed
