George Foreman 13589 4-Portion Family Grill and Griddle in Silver - £34.99 at Amazon!

Forgot I had this on my Camel watch list as I bought one at £49.99 but this is the joint lowest it's ever been - last time it was reduced this far was for the Black Friday sales.

It's one of the few models that's got a temperature control and you can cook on both the grill and the griddle independently.

This is a hot deal, and you know it.
nice one!
I paid 35.00 before Christmas

hot price
We've had this model for a few years now and we love it. The grill/griddle combo makes it very versatile, an absolute steal at this price.

Good find OP - HOT
the only thing to mention...4 portions is a bit overstated...not large enough for four fried eggs, for half tomatoes, four hash browns, four black puddings, four times mushrooms, and where do I cook the beans? (_;)

Just kidding...looks a great gadget at a hot price...just need a reason to get it passed my lady of the house LOL
Hmmm tempted by this but wife will whinge about removable plates
Wife didn't whinge about the removable plates and we ordered one! It seems to be part of a generally good deals on GFG on Amazon, plenty are half price.

Just need some healthy ideas to cook on a griddle now!
Same price in Home Bargains.

Apparently the ones with removable plates don't get as hot (or at least I seem to recall reading that?!)

Easy enough to clean anyway, drip tray goes in the top half of the dishwasher, and any grease/food falls straight off if you heat the grill back up, and use kitchen roll to clean it.

I just bought amazon.co.uk/gp/…i00

Now i'm tempted to cancel and get this one
We take ours with us in the caravan - cooks chicken quick as and means the caravan doesn't stink of cooking (we use it outside)
we have had this model (well older design) for about7 years now
non stick is just starting to flake on the flat side.
still going strong and its had lots of use

Nice just ordered
We bought one of these ages ago and one for our neighbours who admired it.
Great piece of kit.
I have one of these and would recommend to anyone as they are extremely versatile and very easy to clean.. great price
so you can just put the egg on that without any oil?
Any books with receipes for it?
hot

One question, can you separate the sides to make the unit smaller, or does it have to be stored at full width?

Good question, anyone?
Ordered one Didnt need it though, but too good to resist
Great price, I'm pretty sure sure it doesn't separate!
Be warned that for the grill section, 4 portions really means 2!

They can't be seperated. Bought one off Amazon last christmas for my brothers new flat, all of the writing on top of the lid had just rubbed off completely. It's still a great piece of kit though!
Just ordered one! thanks!!8)
How does this differ from the new model?

Descriptions look the same...

Thanks, great price! Many of the reviews do seem to slate the built quality though (+ issues with the non-stick coating). Any comments from current owners? Otherwise will find out when it gets here I guess!
How long is the power cord ? On the last GF grill i had it was ridiculously short.

I don't think it does differ (other than colour), when I was looking to buy there was only ever about a tenner between them, and the release date on that says 2007 (whereas the one I posted is 2008) so I don't think either are particularly 'new', but then again I don't think either have been replaced. At the moment this one is £15 cheaper so there's your difference

I've had no issues with the non-stick coating, if you're going to scrub it with a metal scourer then it won't last two minutes but that goes for anything with a coating. Like I said before, heat it back up for a minute, turn it off then everything simply wipes off.

As stated, it doesn't physically split in two so if you've got a very small kitchen it might be too big. The family size grills are a more awkward shape than this though, at least it's fairly rectangular.

Power cord - about 0.75m. I've got mine coiled up - it's meant to go in a kitchen and if it was too long it'd be getting caught on itself. Look at your toaster/kettle etc, they'll all be shorter cable than this.

Mine's done me fine for burgers, chicken etc, less fatty and cooks evenly. Less spitting fat everywhere as well (in comparison to a frying pan).

just saw this and did some research about the actual grill and have placed my order thanks
I've had one for quite some time now.

The plate's can be a bit fiddly to clean but like others have mentioned, if you heat it up a little then it makes life much easier to clean. The other thing to bear in mind is that it's a big thing to store so make sure you have somewhere.

I'd suggest considering what you want to actually cook. It may be worth it to get just the grill only version.

Food-wise a lot of fat can come off but also a lot of the juices too. This is especially noticable if you are using cheap meat or burgers in which case the food ends up very dry and disgusting. If you only use good quality cuts of meat then you should be OK and it will taste great.
