Get 1/2 Price Hold Luggage on Easyjet return flights

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

OK, Not strictly a deal, more of a glitch in the system, but -

1 - Book an Easyjet RETURN flight without any hold luggage.
2 - Call Easyjet (0330 365 5000) and ask to add hold luggage to your OUTBOUND flight only. This will be about 50% of the cost of adding both ways. Because you cannot do this on their website, you will not be charged any additional fee.
3 - Wait for the email confirmation to arrive, and you will find that the allowance has been added to BOTH flights ***. It seems that (at present at least) the system doesn't have the flexibility to add just the one flight, either that or the operator is too lazy to change it.

*** - This is indicated by the 'Luggage' icon on your eTicket and this will be on BOTH boarding passes. See in red below.

I did this again today, but it has always worked for me, even with expensive sporting equipment, although they may change this loophole if it proves to be a popular option. Good luck!

How much is your hold luggage?

I've got a flight booked for next May with EasyJet. If I got in-app to add hold luggage it's showing as £15.99 per 20kg bag, each way.
This is on the website. I don't have the app.

The cost for BRS-PMI is just over £43 for both ways, but when I called I had it for £22.
just spoke to them. No option to add one way hold luggage to my flight in May to Greece.
Hmm, that's a shame Kris. I wonder what the difference is then. I have done this on flights to Mallorca many times.
Thanks Voucher.Boy. I just tried this on my return flight and it has added the icon to the outgoing flight too. Great. 😋
Thank you.
I have already booked few weeks ago can I still do it?

yes, you can add luggage anytime after booking and before departure..
Just tried this as I don’t think we have anything to lose. Obviously got to wait until 30 days before check in for our June flight to see if the suitcase icon appears on the return boarding card. If not we’ll just add return baggage on then. Worth a punt - thanks OP
Seems to be an IT issue which probably could get fixed easily !

Yeah, you're right of course John, but it's a balance between development costs and lost revenue. Fingers crossed it takes a while before they figure it out eh!

Is this still ongoing?
Does anyone know if it works with sports equipment? UPDATE: I've been able to add it, time will tell if it carries onto the other leg.

Hi Mike, Yes it does (as you've now found out). I did it with my kitesurf gear in the summer. Good luck!
Has this been expired due to the age of the post, or because the glitch has been fixed?

Due to age of the post as I was informed the other day by HUKD. Still a valid deal as far as I know.
Still works. I used the chat on their website to save ringing. It was quick and easy. Saved me £25. Flights very cheap too, , £50 return to Gran Canaria in December

Did you get this to work ?
It definitely worked for me, I asked on the live chat for a bag on the return flight only and paid half of the online price (you can't do one way only online). Took the bag both ways at no extra cost

Either way around works, also it makes no difference if you print the passes or use the app. The info is shown on both. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

I'm not yet due to travel until July so haven't added anything on. Let us know how you get on. Safe travels

Just checked in my luggage . So still works !
Back when I did it last year it automatically applied to the return leg for my snowboard. Definitely worth doing!
Iv just done this for return leg and it has applied it to my booking for both legs - however the operator did mention on the chat that although it appears on both legs of journey she has put a comment to say its for return journey only. I cant see any commnets on the booking so not sure if its something they are only able to see at the desk!! Anyone been told same?

I’m so tempted to do this as it’s £63 for luggage return to Portugal! What happens if they only allow me to do it one way?
Hi, did this worked for anyone recently?
I have just done it but on the booking is written: Your booking has 5 passenger(s) travelling with 3 hold item(s) on 2 flight(s)
Do you think it will work?

Yes, on July 18th I took some household items to Mallorca with me. I only needed to take them so booked one-way hold luggage. Tickets and app show icon and details stating that this is available BOTH ways. As it happens, I don't actually need the return, but it's still working for me at least.
Just tried and they said they've recently changed the outbound only booking. Can only be done at the airport and i guarantee it won't include return by default. How annoying :-(
sorry, I'm new here.
Does it works? and how I can get a sporting equipment discount?

Hi Can you explain me please again how it works?
Not sure if this is still working, but you do not lose out even if it doesn't, because the cost of additional luggage is the same if you buy a return or 2x singles.
Basically, you can make a modification to your booking on the phone for free, but only if you are unable to do this on the website. The option to add luggage to just one leg of a return journey is not available on the website, the only option is for both outbound AND return. You call the helpdesk and say you want to take an item (sports equipment for example) on the outbound leg only. You get charged half the normal amount. They then add it to your booking, but it appears they only have the option to add to both outbound and return. After you have checked in, have a look at your tickets, and you will find the symbol for the additional luggage is on BOTH journeys. If it isn't (and they've fixed this loophole) then just phone and add the luggage to the return journey too. They both add up to the same, so you've lost nothing if it doesn't work, but gained half the cost if it does...

Does that make sense?

Thanks for explanation. So, as I understood I can check if the trick works only after CHECK IN? and may I add a luggage after I made a CHECK IN?
Loophole now closed :-(
