It's back again, until the 13th of November, think it was the same as the previous offer, not entirely sure

'The offer applies to applications received in branch, online (Ultimate Reward Current Account and Reward Current Account only) or by phone from 3rd October 2017. The offer will be reduced after 13th November 2017. '

You can get £3 extra per month if you have 2 DDs and pay in at least £750 a month, saw it when applying for the switch but can't find it anywhere in the TnCs

Trust me, if I had a pair of DDs I could make a lot more than £3 a month.

Super hot.

Lovely job thon op

HOW LONG do yu have to stay with them after you switch to one of their accounts. I joined Halifax at start of year, do most banking online etc but other banks also now have £100 offers etc to switch. MOST people wont notice a difference in banks if they use the internet/mobile apps etc unless you need to visit one and they have closed the local.

For the ones who have had this previously what is the date up to where you can’t have this again if you know what I mean

You are not eligible for the offer if:

  • you are switching to a Basic Account, Youth Account or a Student Account;
  • you have previously received any other offer or benefits for switching to a Halifax bank account at any point since January 2012;
  • you are a Bank of Scotland bank account customer switching to Halifax;
  • the bank you are switching from does not participate in the Current Account Switch Service. To find out if your bank participates, visit the Payments Council website simplerworld.co.uk

Think i'm going to start playing the switching game.

Don't bother if you are genuinely switching... Look at the state of their overdraft fees!! Ludicrous!

And before I get lambasted... I know it's optional and I rarely use mine but the recent change of the fee process is disgusting.

How long do you have to stay with the bank for before u can switch elsewhere

They haven't changed that date in ages....it annoys me as I literally changed to them 1 week before that cut off so I can't take advantage again! Nationwide was good though, we had a joint account and "recommended" each other for single current accounts and get £200 each as the "recommender" and the "recommendee" in both cases! (yes I know recommendee is not a real word)

dont switch if you intend to take a loan or mortgage.. it negatively impacts credit score

So i have a santander account with a few quid in it, no DD or anything like that, just some small saving, and it's just a normal account so it does not really get any interest, not there is that much in it, but if i switch to Halifax they will give me £125 for nothing...am i reading this right?

You are reading that right but you are also righting the above wrong.

can i switch a building society account with no DD to one of theirs and get the dosh?

Is there a monthly charge for the account ?

Depends when you are looking to do so? Might drop you on Experian from 930 to 920 for example if you aren’t switching your main account. But within 3ish months you’ll be back to what you were prior to switching.

No charge for this one

I did this the last time it was £125 and it worked perfectly. Applied online and was accepted immediately, all wages, direct debits etc transferred over by the bank without any input from me and the £125 was in my new account before my old one had even shut down. Money for nothing! did have to set up standing orders again though

I already have a Bank of Scotland account, but would be switching my coop account. Any idea if I'm still eligible?

Until you get the bonus cash?

Oh, and Halifax usually pay quick, I've done them twice (pre and post 2012)

I switched to them earlier in the year when they were offering £75. Two weeks after i did they upped it to £125. Can't complain though as i needed to switch and got some free money.

I recently opened a Santander account so I could switch to nationwide for their offer. Can I switch to Halifax first? Then switch to nationwide?

Switched lots of times. Affected my credit score and I still got a mortgage.

The real advice here is if YOU DONT ALREADY HAVE A MORTGAGE.

if you are re-mortgaging you should be fine.

Or additionally extending a product like myself.

Great deal my misses done the same thing and it was messed up online so reprocessed in branch and ended up getting £200 that's when it was only £100 to switch.Never had a problem with Halifax and customer service is always spot on.Dont use the over draft due to spending within my budget.In all easy to do and why not for a free £125

Hot!! I lost out on the last offer of £125 cash back , was tempted for the £75 but thought I would wait... so glad I did!

What is halifax like as a bank? What is their phone app like?

Thinking of switching my TSB account to Halifax, but that's part of the same banking group I think. Anyone know if that would be an issue?

I'm pretty sure the qualify for the £3 a month, you're also not allowed to go overdrawn either.

Long shot but I'm going to switch from Halifax to the co-op £125 switch deal, do you think if I rang Halifax and said this they would give me the £125 or any incentive to stay ha ha

Beware that if you are only eligible for the Basic account then you will NOT get the £125.

Ive been with them for donkeys years now and never had any problems apart from receiving texts relating to someone else for which I received a pleasant goodwill gesture. App is identical to Lloyds Bank if you've ever used that and I find it very easy to use. I have no wish to leave them even for a money incentive.

Hold your horses. You're better off switching to HSBC Advance Account. If you haven't already, it's £150 and £50 at the end of your first year. It requires £1,750/month pay-in and 2DD or Standing Orders but you can pay in and take it out again. First Direct is also £125 with £1000/month pay in but no DD's required but they charge you £10/month if you don't pay in £1000/month after the first six months.

Worst online banking security ever!! I got robbed and left.

Please keep in mind that in November Halifax or increasing there over draft fees by a very large amount (probably the highest on the market) theguardian.com/mon…fee

£125 may seem like a good deal, but think long term folks ... this bank will more than likely get that back from those of you who need or use overdrafts

Phone app is spot on when I was with them, but their online security is bad, they have no login token generator, it is just passwords set by you to allow complete access to account, not just viewing balance. I was ID frauded when I was with halifax, and whilst they where not the root of the deception, when it finally did effect my account with them, a person in account security literally said to me “I don’t know what to do, you’re probably best closing your account”, which whilst good advice, he def. never had any protocols to deal with account breach, and really should have just changed my account number and sort code as I had asked. Honestly if u value your time, I wouldn’t bother with Halifax

So what happened in the end? How much did you lose, did they cover any losses etc? (If you don't mind me asking)
