You can use this sim in both phones and tablets so it says on site
It looks like this is only for dongles, mifi and tablets, but not for mobiles :(.

I was hoping they would offer the 321 sim with 200mb free a month... a man can only dream.

You can give it a try, but I think you might need a new sim card.

To try, switch on your mifi device and navigate to three.co.uk/fre…ata to register the sim. That page will tell you if your sim is elegible.

Does this have incoming number or just a data sim. I remember the old sims could receive texts and had incoming number

If you click >Plan details. it states the prices for voice calls and text messages and additional data which is still 321

Yes it does for the 1gb plan, but not for the 3/12gb plans. Just when I'd ordered a dual sim phone, I may not need one if the 1gb plan allows calls & texts
Interesting..

It is what it is. It's 200mb. And for low users that might be sufficient for them. Is someone trying to make you buy one against your will?
How many months do yiu get 200mb for though?

Engadget link states you can make calls and text but no idea how they would bill you if you just paid £10 up front fir the data pack
While the SIM is primarily aimed at data-only devices like tablets and such, you can plug it into a phone and make calls from 3p from minute, or send texts from 2p per message.

I was hoping to use this on my tablet abroad but also pop it into my phone a couple of times to make calls.

I don't see why this won't work on a phone as it also allows calls and texts using their 321 tariff. It also has better value add-ons for data.

What can you do with 200 mb these days,"low users"?
Bung this in an old Android phone to be used exclusively as a SatNav on Google Maps or any other nav app with traffic updates. Disable everything else including app updates of course. Can even be used in car tracking devices I guess.

You can throw it in a blackberry for emails.
the alcatel one touch tablet has phone calling, i think it depends on the chip used, i had mine unlocked only to find 3 blocked it. perhaps this sim is designed for the niche market.

The life of luxury eh
Very interesting for the sat nav idea. I use an old xperia when I go out running as an mp3 player but would love to map my runs too. Are you sure 200mb is enough for using runstastic/strava a few times a month?

That happened to me, but I think the mechanism they use is erratic. I have such a sim in my tablet for very occasional use, and it mostly works, despite repeatedly getting the "naughty boy" texts. Dont know if it takes 24h to kick in when they detect use, and I found what it allows/denies is erratic.
So this is basically a 1-2-3 PAYG SIM with the benefit of getting 200MB free a month forever? (i.e. until they change the plan). I assume you lose the 150MB free when you top-up that you get with the standard PAYG SIM?

exactly, in which case I assume you also have to pay another £10 to purchase the PAYG 'feel at home' add-on to use the data or make calls etc abroad. Think I will just stick with my current payg 321 sim and purchase the addon for use abroad.

I agree with lyndsaya - isn't anyone bothered about the obvious hike in data costs from mobile networks in the past year or so ?
If they keep it up they can kiss my flippin a*se
Anyone know if the 200Mb is for life? Can't see anything that confirms it one way or the other.

Handy to have for occasional trips to Feel at Home destinations ... though EU roaming charges will supposedly be abolished next year

These mobile companies are avoiding billions in tax so a few hundred million that the government will take off them is loose pocket change!

Vodafone 84 Billion tax dodge

So Vodafone definately should not be increasing prices since it is ripping us off by BILLIONS already.
