I have done a search and cannot find this offer...

Sony are offering 50GB of free cloud storage from Box, if you register and log into your account for the first time on a Sony Xperia smartphone, using the Box app which is downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Once you have created the account, you are free to access and log in to the cloud storage on any other mobile device or website and still keep the 50GB's they have given you!

I have a Sony Xperia work mobile and created an account and was given the 50GB of storage. I am now however using the account I created on my HTC One, which is my personal mobile. Other colleagues have also used my phone to create an account and access from there own mobiles and getting the 50GB!

If you know someone with a Sony Xperia, could be worth asking if they would let you create an account...

Box are less well known than Dropbox and Google Drive, but have apps for Iphone, Android and Windows Mobile, all with a nice interface... It can also be accessed on your computer via the website - box.com or download an application that allows you to sync files from your computer and view as a drive.

It also appears you can create multiple accounts, by just using different email addresses, and new log-in details!

(If you do register for an account on a mates Sony Xperia, make sure you do not save your Box log-in details on their phone!)

It only lasts for 2 years with the HTC one. So probably the same deal

My partner and I both have an Xperia Ultra, so this will be very handy. thanks - voted hot!!!

Just registered via the pre-installed app on my Xperia Z1 and I've received 10gb, not 50gb.

Have a box account and 50GB free with a Playbook a couple of years ago. It works but to be honest I find it so slow as to be almost unusable.

ADrive offer something similar which I think is pretty unrestricted and doesn't run out (had mine a few years). Again, not the quickest.

The file size upload limitation make this a pretty poor service. I thought it would be a great way of backing up pictures/videos whilst travelling...but full HD videos regularly went over 100mb's so I would have to back them up to an alternative service. I gave up in the end, and went for Dropbox (just use the referral thing to bump up the storage). Skydrive has also worked v.well.

Thank you

You don't get any more storage if you already have 50GB from another source.

The news release says - We announced our Box partnership just before the festive season last year and the offer wasn’t just for Christmas; it’s for life.

I've had the same offer 2-3 years ago with my Xperia Play phone.

You can also get 50gb for everyone else using the same domain. So, if your email is adam@smart.com, you can 50gb for your wife sara@smart.com, your daughter hannah@smart.com and your son jack@smart.com :-)

As blacklion1725 says, it is slow(er) than the other services but I personally found the speed acceptable.

I have an Xperia z and never used Box before. Just signed up from my phone but it has only given me 10Gb not 50Gb :-( HOLD ON. When II logged in again, it upgraded me to the 50Gb :-)

its for life

I suppose "life" means (like all these services) as long as they stay in business.

I also have a box account and use it for streaming to my Iphone using cloudbeats. It works a treat especially using airplay, fast enough to stream mp3 music.
