Just got a letter today, about a free replacement for our existing hd box. the box is supposed to be 3d ready aswell.

I'm not sure of the exact details of which boxes are getting replaced and which are not. however i do have a free phone number which you can call to see if you are illegible. the number is 0800 0466434. calls from a bt land line or any payphone should be free, calls from mobiles and other networks can cost you more, for full details please check with your service provider(did i sound like one of those competition rules announcements?)

Your lucky bite there hand off! I had to finally upgrade to get a new box when mine went wrong, they kept exchanging it for dodgy refurbs, I nearly cancelled for real.

Just called them and it is ONLY if you have a Thompson box, if you already have the newer Samsung, don't bother calling. The lady said it is because the Thompson is NOT compatible with sky Anytime +.

got the letter, they said they will take the old box,but i want to keep the old box will this be possible,going to use it in another room for freeview hd channels

Just phoned them. If you accept the offer of a new box you are agreeing to continue the Sky package that you are currently on for a further 12 months. Of course you can upgrade but if you cancel you may be liable for all of the set up costs etc of the new box.

Old box will be taken by the engineer when he delivers the new one.

I take it you will loose everything you have saved on your planner or can engineer transfer programmes to new box

I have spoken to Sky too and was told there was no extension to my contract and could cancel whenever with no more to pay.

A friend of mine works in a Sky call centre and she said a few weeks ago that at the moment she is doing purely outbound calls for this and that it's just a straight swap no contract extension.

do you only get this if you have sky internet ??

No extension to existing contract, no tie in, just a gesture to customers with a Thompson box (I, along with many others have been experiencing a number of issues with the box). I agreed, as long as I would not have to pay for the engineer visit. Was reassured that there was no charge and no extension to the contract. Engineer came on Monday 6 June and fitted a new 250 gb hd box. On Thursday got the letter confirming the offer and thanking me for agreeing to take the new box (at zero charge) and suggesting that the sky engineer would contact me soon to arrange installation. Hope this clears up the situation. PS I do not have internet from sky.

Checked my Sky HD box by lifting it up and it was Thompson. So went onto the website and my account and could not see any offer on there. I then gave them a phone call. They bascially checked my info and confirmed im entailed to a new box. Booked the date for technician and they will come and swap the boxes. No new contract and no extra cost. Definately worth doing.

they tried that on me and i mentioned that i had the letter in front of me and that no where on it does it say about a contract renewal. and the lady went away fro a min to talk to her supervisor and told me i was right.
as for the old box thing you are correct, its mentioned in the small print at the back of the card.

i'm not a sky broadband customer, my broadband is supplied by virgin.

the engineer is coming out Thursday next week to fit the new box.

I called yesterday they didn't even mention about Thomson box, my Thomson is now my multi-room box as they kept putting my HD sub on my multi room instead of my main box. So hopefully they'll replace that box, are also going to give me a free wireless adapter as the other box is nowhere near my router. Assume that as long as the engineer takes home A Thompson box then nobody really cares!

Got to wait until July 10th tho'

i ordered mine today, no call out charge and no contract extension new box coming on 24th june thank you for posting this

Anyone know which box you will get? I have the Thomson box, my bro has the Samsung box and we both agree the Thomson is much faster with less "hangs". I have heard the Pace is the one to have. Also, "Anytime" works fine on the Thomson box though the HDD is a little noisy on mine, so may give them a ring.

No those will eventually work with the service but they haven't finished the firmware updates. The Thompson won't work hence the replacement programme.

I just phone sky for my replacement box and yes it sounded ok untill she mentioned I need sky broadband to activate the new bow I said that is cheating and blackmail so she said I dont have to exchang e the box if I dont want to I said I will keep my old box as I dont have any trouble with it. I feel as if i have missed something there perhaps a word with someone higher but they are always too busy.

On or about 13th may my Sky HD box packed up atogether. I have had nothing but trouble with it from the moment that it was installed. I called SKY and was told that it would cost about £ 60.00 to replace because it was out of the guarantee period.
I refused to pay and threatened to go to Virgin Media where I am an existing customer. I was then put to one of your other call centres ( possibly Mumbai ) where the lady proposed a deal costing be £40.00 plus for a new and improved HD box which I accepted because I was anxious to watch the sport channel. Your technician installed the new box and aeria and everything was sweetness and light until a friend in Windsor told me that he had had a new box installed for nothing because our boxes were on recall. Lo and behold I received your letter this morning which is offering me a new Sky box free of charge. I called your 08442411386 and explained the situation to a young lady and she told men that she really did not know what to say but that she would put men on hold and consult a colleague. I had already said that I deserved a full refund and after waiting for 15 minutes I gave up and waited for a recall because I had been asked for my home number at least three times times but to no avail. I await you comments with great interest.

I don't have sky broadband as it's not available in my area. I have sky world package, movies & sports. I gave them a call as I thought it unfair that I should pay the same as other people but not entitled to Anytime+ (which is free). They offered me halfprice on my world package for the next six months. Maybe worth a try.

Thde letter says go to this site to agree a replacement. I have tried this as you can see but cannot get an awnser. I have tried to ring also but could not get a reply. I ask why so complicated if you want to replace it without any alterations in my congtract go ahead. D Blatchford

recieved the letter this morning regarding the new box.I have a Thompson box at this time and rang the guy who told me they are replacing the Thompson boxes as they are not future proof.
Asked him if all my contracts will be the same and he said yes.I dont have Sky broadband and he didnt mention it during conversation.
The small(very) state you must have sky broadband,is this true and if yes why arent they mentionong this during telephone conversation.

Tried for hours cannot make any sense of how to get my new free box

Received letter advising free replacement Sky+HDbox for 8 years loyalty Web page would not open - 45 minutes on phone to be told that I have to contact the supplier who installed the box. The supplier is no longer a Sky agent ! (Sky cancelled most independent agents 2 years ago) Phoned again but 15 minute wait. If they don't want to supply - please don't waste my time What a Mickey Mouse set up.
