In my experience (I'm not a vegan) the reason vegans talk so much about their lifestyle choice is because they get asked a lot about it. People tend to have very limited knowledge of veganism, so take the opportunity to ask questions and find out more. Friends of mine who are vegans are passionate about animal welfare and will happily talk about how that informs what they choose to eat and what they choose to wear. Sadly, they also have to put up with the usual jokes (see above) and insults from those who don't share their choices.

In the last few years I've cut back on meat and dairy, and one day I might well make the jump to vegetarianism. Until then I'll try and treat people with respect.
Why do all you meat eaters feel so threatened? I've never encountered such insecurity in ordinary people.
Cold votes are pure ignorance. There are huge numbers of people switching to vegan, I am not 100% vegan but am 95% of the time, I do so not because I give a crap about the animals but because I care about my health, anyone curious should atleast try it for a month, or atleast cut out all dairy, the difference is huge.

Thanks for posting this, people need to know about this and need the resources to help them transition.
Well I guess its ok to kill animals as long as you don't eat them, right?

With that, i'm out.
Logo looks a little like Negan. Will I get to face Lucile for eating carpaccio?

Don’t confuse ‘mirth’ with ‘threatened’

Ps...meat eaters are the ‘ordinary’ ones....simple numbers
Really good resource - used this when I made the switch

And I've never met any group like the Vegans to scream and shout about their beliefs (except the religion that dare not be mentioned, snowflakes, remoaners and so on)
If we were not meant to eat them why do they taste so yummy?

I don't mind what people eat so long as they don't force it on their children and others. If you're trying to run your omnivore body as a herbivore you are bound to have problems. Just give your children a rare fillet steak once a week should help.
I like they don't like killing animals. BUT would a lion a crocc or a shark say the same thing about them. Nope they soon kill people and eat you if they had a chance.

I’m more upset when they try to force it on their cat and dogs - the poor things

You see for me anyone giving their kids meat is as bad as giving them cigarettes.

True, but if you put a baby lion in a cage with a rabbit and a carrot what would it eat? The rabbit every time. Switch that around and put a human baby in the cage and it would eat the carrot every time. We are not naturally born to eat meat. It's simple.

They do it for survival, most humans do it for convenience, habit, tradition and taste.
I wouldn't tell a tribe living in a forest not to hunt if they have to occasionally.

There is why Veganism meets so much resistance. We have evolved over tens of thousands of year to be omnivores.
If our ancestors didn’t hunt and eat meat, we’d have zero modern day living. We wouldn’t have adopted clothing, in times of famine we’d have died enmasse, tool development would have stalled, fire usage would be limited due to no fats to burn, etc.

What we are not born to do is eat processed foods, too many carbohydrates and ignore important food groups.
It's a choice not a religion

If people choose not to eat meat - good for them
But it's this constant nagging negativity you vegans and the like try to force down our throats (pun intended) which most people hate and that's why it's cold in here

Nobody forces you to be a vegan so stop trying to force us to be
And just from the scientific approach most vegans will eat vegetables which are living things how do you feel about killing and eating vegetables? What about their feelings? Have you no heart?

But you must admit that things are a little different now, surely. Po
i think, therefore i am. vegan because it shouldnt be my 'choice' to take anothers life for my selfish wants...not needs as there are alternatives to everything u have on your plates. i dont like taking lives unnecessarily, ive watched cows screaming crying for their lives for their babies and being so happy when reunited, i dont want to be the cause of the pain, fear and rape all for cheese that i can have an alternative to, the milk or chocolate etc, i dont want to pump my body with all the chemicals and antibiotics and unatural things fed to all the food chain animals. its a decaying corpse, most wouldnt pick up a dead squirrel or pigeon but theyll happily eat far worse.
PETA don’t preach, we know you like your corn
PETA don’t preach, cookedmeat gives me the horn
But I made up my mind, I’m keeping my bacon. Oh, I’m gonna keep my bacon, mmm... 🥓
I am not a vegan myself, but I have friends who are. It isn't simply avoiding eating meat, that's vegetarianism, it's about avoiding all products sourced from animals, including eggs and dairy products and leather clothing. My friends have never tried to force their views on me, nor have I tried to get them to eat the foods I do. When I bake or cook for them I adapt recipes and use vegan substitutes, it's not that hard to do. It is not a niche market either, whilst not yet mainstream, compared to even five years ago it has grown in popularity to the point that many food manufacturers have developed products to cater for the demand, this includes Ben and Jerrys.

Whilst it can can be necessary for some to supliment their diet with additional vitamins and mineral tablets it is a more healthy way to eat than being a meat eater. As a meat eater I have to agree that many fellow carnivores react in a threatened way to the vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, maybe it's all the hormones and stuff that is in the meat food chain

I haven't written this to try and convince others to change their eating habits, everyone has the right to decide for themselves what diet to follow, I'm just trying to convey that vegans are normal people who for mainly ethical reasons have chosen not to consume animal sourced protein.
Genuinely surprised (not really) by the attitudes of some of the comments in this thread. I don't really understand vegetarianism, or those who are vegan to the extent that they do, but I wouldn't criticise it in the way I'm seeing here.

I'm not insinuating that it is in anyway as solid as a religion, but I guess to them their beliefs in the subject are solid as that of one.

I think a lot of you here need to just 'chill out' a little and let people do their own thing, don't critise them for it.

Could I ask in return that nobody mocks me for being a sad lonely gamer?

Sexy sad loner gamer!

I love eating animals, would have no problem with smacking an Alsatian over the head and sticking it on the BBQ.
Let`s spike the vegans lol
A lot of the prejudiced comments on this thread come people who would have made perfect NSDAP members.

(Ironically one of the evillest men to ever live was a vegetarian and animal lover)

Yes I am a vegetarian, its my choice, but I don't give a tosh what offers eat or do,

My philosophy: if you leave me alone, I leave you alone!

This is so dumb. First of how are you comparing humans to animals? Animals usually live on instincts whereas humans have both instincts and a conscience to make decisions.

Secondly, we ARE born to naturally eat meat. It is why our body can handle meat (apart from those with allergies). Besides you cannot base that statement where humans were not naturally born to eat meat on a human baby! Human babies have not developed skills of cooking!

I have no problem with vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians or meat eaters. The issue is with those who try intentionally try to offend and/or persuade others to follow their way of dietary lifestyle. It is almost as if saying we are superior. This is what most meat eaters dislike about certain vegans out there. Go and call dairy bad but its tasty and we love it. Besides you can still live a normal healthy life to an average lifespan, as if we haven't for the past hundreds of years.
