Thought this was a pretty good deal for a one year VPN - I currently use another provider and although good, it's a tad pricey and tempted to switch!

Macsentry seems to tick all the right boxes and you can have 5 connections per account!

No Logging
Unlimited Traffic
P2P Allowed

5 simultaneous connections per account

20 Locations in 16 Countries

For Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android
OpenVPN (TCP/UDP), IKEv2, and
LT2P/IPSec protocols
AES-256 with 096 bit Handshake encryption

Hit get deal and use code SENTRY21 at checkout

Price conversion is approx £18 per year but this may fluctuate

Ideal for Watching non UK Netflix, Browsing blocked sites, picking up cheaper Deezer , protecting your privacy, that sort of thing.

Most of you know what a VPN is but if you don't see below.

What is a VPN?

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a service that allows you to connect to the internet via a server run by a VPN provider. All data traveling between your computer, phone or tablet, and this “VPN server” is securely encrypted. As a result of this setup, VPNs:

  • Provide privacy by hiding your internet activity from your ISP (and government)
  • Allow you to evade censorship (by school, work, your ISP, or government)
  • Allow you to “geo-spoof” your location in order to access services unfairly denied to you based on your geographical location (or when you are on holiday)
  • Protect you against hackers when using a public WiFi hotspot
  • Allow you to P2P download in safety.

I bought a VPN today and was massively torn between PureVPN, NordVPN and ExpressVPN.

But ultimately I decided with PureVPN as could not find a better deal than $69.99 for 5 years.

As NordVPN was same price but only got 2 years.

If PureVPN is rubbish then will cancel within the first month for a refund.
How does netflix work - if I registered on a (VPN'ed) US site and used the same credentials to login into my roku without VPN, would I still be getting US content?

Genuinely, don't go with PureVPN. They use virtual servers for many countries, meaning that they pretend to be in countries which they are not. A reputable vpn will use barebones servers.

They have also recently been caught giving up one of their customers to the courts despite claiming they don't keep logs.

Their speed isn't great either.
Apologies if I'm about to sound patronising but it can be really hard when you initially look for reputable vpn. This is partly because so many people take commissions for recommending a certain company. Most of the review sites are fake even though they look so convincing.

I also bought a lifetime PureVPN subscription. I only ever use it if I desperately need a very obscure country (which is very rarely!).

There's MUCH better providers out there.
I have avira VPN got it thru their Xmas giveaway.I use for torrenting only.
I have windscribe fee 60gb per month but I'm getting an speed which is ridiculously slow. Is this any better

No you'd get UK content as the device is in the UK, regardless of where the account was set up. You could get US content by setting up the VPN on your phone (if your phone and VPN allow this) and then "casting" Netflix to the Roku, but beware that some VPNs are blocked by Netflix and the ones that aren't blocked may become blocked at any time.
Does it have Russian IP? If so, ideal for GOG purchases

For torrenting films etc, watch content on USA or other foreign Netflix sites or just for hiding your location. Can even use it to buy cheaper digital console games from say Brazil.

Link not working.
I use Tunnel Bear at $50/ 1 year. Used it in US to get my Sky and BBC IPlayer. Have also used it here to get the boxing from the U.S that was PPV here.
Gonna try nordvpn. Hope it's good for matched betting
If privacy is important for you, you should not consider using Macsentry as if they indeed do not log any connection they are unable to enforce the 5 connected device limit.

So that means that they do record your connection history and can tell which user is connected to which server etc

They explain this in their privacy policy - macsentry.com/pri…tml .
I'm very happy with tunnel bear. Simple no fuss great for smartphones
@DoubleUp is correct about VPN company marketing. Because it’s gaining a lot more traction within the mainstream & it’s still an unknown technology by many. There is a hell of a lot of outsourcing to 3rd party social media containment company’s. It happens in most industries but is fairly prevalent in VPNs currently.

Basically you outsource to a company who browses the web for chat related to VPN’s & they create fake accounts & promote who ever is paying you.

You can generally get a grip on who the biggest offenders are by the amount of advertisements they push through certain sites & social media also e.g. NordVPN, VanishIP, ExpressVPN...

That’s not to say they’re bad services, just make sure you use the trial period wisely. The good part for consumers is it doesn’t matter how many lies these people spread as you can always generally get a good amount of time to trial & refund if necessary based on your own real experience. The bad part is that “newbies” are quite possible to use a poor service & believe that this must be just how VPNs perform in general. So if you’re not happy, just jump ship & go elsewhere until you are.

Loved reading your post. Are you able to recommend any VPN providers to consider?
I've tried loads of VPN providers and all do vary considerably. Definitely worth reading up about the various VPN companies out there. As said use the trial(s) wisely. That said, will give these a try.

I found that exact problem when trying to find genuine reviews to do research and decide on one. I think I ended up trying 6/7 before landing on Nord. It's not perfect but I get very close to my download speed regularly. Them being based in Panama, I believe, was also a deciding factor too.
Great thanks I need one.
Does a VPN allow you to create your own website and email server?
savvyshopper65611 h, 0 m ago

Keeping what you do private

Eg if torrenting stops the companies hunting you down & sending cease & desist letters.

Stops Theresa May's awful snoopers chatter gathering data on you

Stops your ISP seeing what you do

Just generally encrypts data to keep you safe, ideal if using public hotpots like at Costa where someone could sit & sniff packets & intercept cookies then gain access to your accounts etc

You don't need to log connections to enforce a maximum of 5 concurrent logins.

I use PIA and have no complaints I get line speed on well seeded Torrents (60Mbps) and it passes every test Inc DNS leakage tests. I paid under £30 for a year the only downside us PIA doesn't work with Netflix but I don't use it so doesn't bother me

My cyberghost is about to run out. I use it so infrequently, but worth having, and for £18, it's a steal, even if it's very average.

Cheers OP

The top five VPNs for 2018 as tested and rated by Tech Radar are (in order):

1. ExpressVPN
2. IPVanish
3. VyprVPN
4. NordVPN
5. TunnelBear

They discuss the pros and cons of each one in their article if you're interested. Sure it's just their opinion but I've found them to be a pretty reliable source for technical information.

Express VPN is fantastic, and it works great with Netflix but it is expensive.
