I did this and then registered for the 6 months student trial afterwards, …I did this and then registered for the 6 months student trial afterwards, 8 months for free and covers me over the Christmas period where I tend to use it most. And to think some suckers are paying £79 a year 🤣🤣🤣

Some suckers aren't students either.

The things some people will do to save a few £ a year never ceases to amaze me. And to actually mock and name call people who are honest instead of lying and scamming their way into getting a discounted rate is really pathetic.

Oh and and there’s a £10 amazon student voucher now which pretty much covers the cost of the card so if you haven’t done it already now is the time

Where does it show you to renew the prime trial for another 30 days? I can't see that option. Only the email you 3 days before renewal option.

Well it doesn't. When I'm going to cancel it, the option isn't there. Only the 3 day reminder renewal option, as stated.

Either that, OR, use another email address + make another Amazon account = 'new you're?, lol. ;-)

Ger. I don't think Amazon care that much but basically register a new email address (I use android so make a new Gmail address) make a new account with a new debit / credit card number and start again with your free trial I've been doing it for about a year now. I used to do it with Netflix too but they've figured it out somehow! Amazon don't seem to do any address checks etc.

Amazon is throwing off so much money that they are probably wise to all the tricks but fairly happy to keep any somewhat less than upfront customers as the competitors wither & dwindle

yes, even savvy, somewhat cheaty customers

and students, if that's not a tautology

Cheaty.... How very dare you!!!! I've now figured out another scam today.

I managed to get 6 months free student when I was studying part time through the open university (had a .ac.uk email)

Im now going to use my NUS card from that same course on a different email to get another 6 months

as you say, I don't think Amazon care too much

we admire savvy shopping & endeavour around here!
Been using the old register new email address for ages now. Have 12 separate emails just for prime and have all email forwarded to my main address so I can see my orders etc easily. I just activate one when I want something, it eventually reset's a few months after.

Just what one poster said about getting a replacement debit/credit card just so that he/she can open a new Amazon account for a free months trial of prime. Seems a bit of an extreme way to go about it to me but there you go.

Anyway, I have two Amazon accounts same debit card, same name, same address. Just different emails. Have had both four about four years. In my case because I like to keep kindle stuff separate from physical orders, no other reason.

i don't think Amazon have any rules against having more than one account, do they? I guess that there's always going to be a route to a free trial outside the NUS card method - just depends how bothered you can be to do it.

at this stage in their business cycle, Amazon just want more & more of us to use them - sorry to repeat - but simply more & more frequently

they are not going to clamp down on 'somewhat abusive' usage anytime soon - so you might as well make hay

they are not a law agency or anything similar!

I'd advise people to have several a/cs to take advantage of the offers that keep coming up - after all, the recent free £5 & £15 offers multiplied by (say) a modest 5 = £100 for you as opposed to £20

How is it extreme? It costs nothing and I have Several bank accounts to maximise interests rates that I don't use for purely more than high interest.

How is replacing a card any different from exploiting several accounts. If you believed I purely replaced one account every month over 12 months then you're naive

I'm probably wrong so don't let me scare you, But I think this may affect your credit rating in the future? Luke if you want to get a mortgage or a loan for a car or business etc.
Like I said: I'm probably wrong so don't worry. Someone smarter might chime in to slap me later.
I personally use a new account every month to get free prime. Then cancel auto renewal.

Already done the 6 month free trial. How do you know you are eligible for the 30 day free trial? Is it when you checkout an itemor is there a different way?

It doesn't do any checks. Not like Netflix etc. I use the same card and address everytime. I'm on my 6th account.

Can I ask when the option comes up please? I click cancel, and get asked if I want to keep my benefits or be reminded 3 days before. Should it pop up then or after that?

I've been getting this on my accounts since the beginning of the year. I go to cancel the renewal within 1 or 2 days of renewal. It then gives you the usual choice of confirming the cancelation but it also shows a message asking if you want to continue with another 30 days free. If you are not seeing that message then you haven't been selected. It's account specific.

i do the same, and have done for last three years, 12 accounts with 12 different emails all with same name, same address and i use the same payment cards on them all, free all year prime, you are eligible for a free prime trial once per account per 12 month period, do amazon know this goes on ? of course they do, they are still making money off me but just not as much as off most people.

I'm credit rating has gone to rubbish anyways went from 600 odd to 400 odd from doing all the account switches for free money (which is how I've managed to end up with so many accounts to do this)

However what I will say is I now have the ability to save up to £1200 a month at 5pcent (regular savers) and a £2500 5pcent current account and £300 at pcent regular saver so it's worth more than that credit rating.

I'm currently buying a new house with the wife and didn't affect that what so ever. I never plan on getting loans for cars etc. So I'm all good!

You know you don't even need to create a new gmail address, right?
Just add my two pence - My experience with amazon has been excellent. Had my amazon account over 11 years. Great to see 11 years of history for reordering certain items. Had a problem with a computer monitor 2 years old. Amazon replaced monitor no quibble. Loyalty does help sometimes. Creating new accounts frequently to save a few Quid, can sometimes be a false economy.
