Here you need to put in an 8 or 9 digit number - your actual library number would probably work but you can try a few & should get success.

Try 800XXXXXX where X is some random number.

I quite enjoy having the Daily Telegraph behind a paywall.

Stops me accidentally reading it from time to time.

This deal is for full access to the Torygraph - does that mean we get to see scantily clad pictures of Teresa May?

That's a seriously depressing list.
At least the Telegraph and the Guardian print news (even if it is spun); the papers at the top of the list just make stuff up.

Very soon newspapers will no longer exist. You read it here first ...

The Guardian is more or less the print arm of the BBC, and if it wasn't for them buying a ridiculous number of copies keeping it afloat it would be bankrupt.
Unlike the BBC it doesn't have a 'unique funding arrangement' and I believe if the BBC ever went subscription it would go the same way as the Grauniad.

I guess at least then you can have your 'news' fed to you by Dacre\Murdoch\(insert rich newspaper proprietor pushing their own agenda so that they can make more money from their other investments here) without any of those pesky contradictory opinions getting in the way.
Brilliant - I logged in with my library card number

Yes, the Guardian really provides an anti-war view when it comes to Libya, Syria, and any other potential target the neo-cons can think of. Thank God for the contradictory opinions of the Grauniad.

No option to access directly with library card number on the iPad app, but you can link your account to your library membership if your library subscribes to the service. You will need a PIN number from your library.

You know the last 3 news editors of the Beeb News have been Tory right? (And the current one was editor of The Times for ages). But yeah... the BBC is all part of one big leftwing conspiracy innit...

Q: How do you confuse a Daily Mail reader?

A: Tell them immigrants kill paedophiles.

Murdochs empire is part owned by the Saudis anyway, but I'm quite in favour of plurality, it's just that I don't like the BBC controlling something in the region of 80% of news output.
Believing that the quality of the BBCs output is insufficient to fund a subscription based funding model does not imply the bias, although it undoubtedly is present.

Where is that 80% statistic from? I would imagine any figure near that is including regional news, which mot other media outlets don't cover because it's too costly for them and not profitable.
On the one hand you get people moaning about the London-centric media, and then on the other they moan when the BBC comes to the regions and covers the news there, which do you want?

What the BBC has done is utter genius. They've hoodwinked a nation into believing 'we' need them, and that you need to pay for their junk content and put up with their doorstep sales people begging you to believe their lies... YOU DON'T have to!
It's called encryption. It can be scary to an organisation like the BBC who like to give you FREEview and generate 3.7 billion pounds in revenue (yearly)!!!
Meanwhile, in the modern world I Like my FREE choice and to pay for premium content from Amazon, Netflix and NowTV.

their budget needs to be reduced by 50%, simple solution

reducing our TV licence to £70 pa would be a good move

I mean this in the nicest way. You're talking about an organisation that thought it was still ok to make people over the age of 75 pay for their own TV Licence. The BBC probably see these type of people as some kind of 'freeloader'. You may be over 75 and counting down your days left on this spinning planet . Or busy tapping the thermometer because it's 1deg above zero and you may need to put the heating on, and their only other pleasure on their meagre budget before the Government and care homes take the lot, is that little square tube in the corner of the living room. What you are suggesting would be equivalent of State treason. Give them nothing. And let the supporters prop up the gravy train and let the BBC compete in the modern arena.
