Get Cheap Food - Save Waste at Too Good to Go

I can't see this posted on here but I've been using this app for a while. In essence it is a way for food outlets to sell food cheaply at the end of the day that would otherwise be wasted and you get cheap food in return.

I've found when in London or cities there is far more availability than in more rural locations. In essence you buy a voucher so a £10 voucher for £3 or similar. You then get food to the value of £10 at the relevant place you have purchased your voucher for at a particular time.

An example I used this week was for Costa Coffee. Arrive at the store between 6:30-7:30pm and I was allowed to pick items from a selection up to the value of £10 (actually I was a bit over). It all depends on what they have left and the voucher cost me £3. I ended up with a wrap, yoghurt type thing and a cake. I know Costa food isn't cheap to start with anyway, but I've found a few places that aren't big chains where you can get some better value items, cake shops, tea rooms etc.... It also applies to some restaurants although the time tends to be 9pm onwards when they would be closing. You can pay on PayPal and you just present your receipt on the app to the store.

Hi

As it was over a month ago a repost is fine Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for the repost, I'm one of those that missed the previous reactivations. Good to see...
Would never have known of this if someone didn't post this on here before, good to keep it coming up now and again for those who don't know about it.

Tried this in a local bakery and wasn’t worth it. They gave me £3.50 worth of already reduced food.
Wrap, yogurt and cake is worth £10 in Costa at full price?
some ppl are dumb

Have you ever been to Costa in London? The granola yoghurt fruit thing, wrap and cake would have been well over £10. I'd never pay that much but yep some people do!

I went to Costa once because the coffee is poo. Believe it or not McDonald's 1.49 coffee is much better. There's Nero, crap bucks and many others that overcharge for their mediocre products
Nothing within 40 miles of me.

I don't drink coffee I've only ever had the hot chocolate when it's free on the Wuntu and Vodaphone app, but even that is terrible!

Lol
Used to be good, but then Yo Sushi started taking the Mickey and giving less and less. Would go once a month and now haven't been/used since October.

If you have a Greene King pub nearby you get a large plastic container, they put some meat in and you can fill with whatever else you want.
It's repeating on you. Probably like the slightly aged food.

I guess one of the mods likes the irony of serving up your expired deal for everyone else to digest.
This is great in theory as reducing wasted food is important but I tried it at Yo Sushi & sadly was pretty disappointed. May well be worth trying with other companies though...
Do you have to pick up at the stated times? Or can you go later?
Sorry to be a negative nelly, but why don't they list the chains they've partnered with on the website?

It makes me somewhat suspicious when a company plugging 'good causes' isn't fully transparent.
Cool idea. But only one place local to me (bakery) and everything else about 40mins travel.
Deleted the app, as I doubt I'd use it.
Subway have nice drinking chocolate and coffee for about £1.20 much better than Costa or Starbucks

You can only pick up during the stated times.

Yes that's right, I've sometimes been 10-15 mins earlier and they have been ok about it.
Wenzals in London seem to be my worst so far. But ignore the £ worth they just have to give you enough to cover the amount you paid. Saying that anyone used Crumbs and Dollies trying to find out how many cake you might get? Cheers

Same here and even then in mostly hotels getting rid of breakfast left overs.

Each to their own, I suppose...

No. I only went to Costa once because their coffee was poo. Hands up I didn't make it clear
This is what I had from a cafe in Croydon for £3.59;

- A bacon, cheese, chorizo pasta
- A mushroom, cheese combination crossiant (very nice actually, they toasted it for me)
- A teeny tiny pot of pineapple
- A cinnamon swirl

The pasta alone was priced at £5.50.
