I work for the Co-op.
It isn't a 5% discount with the membership cards, it's 5% back onto your card whenever you buy Co-op own brand products. Plus occasional vouchers and coupons even when not buying own brand. The Co-op Membership card is £1 in my region.
The 5% cash value that you've accumulated by buying own brand stuff doesn't have to spent on own brand items, it can be spent on anything, even lottery! The 5% can be spent at any time as it goes onto membership cards as cash - there is no need to wait for statements through the post. Co-op card balances are printed on each receipt after every transaction.
And the beautiful thing is this - you can use Co-op Membership cards in conjunction with NUS Extra cards. So as long as your local participates in the NUS Extra discount, you get an immediate 10% off your shopping on most things, regardless of brand, including alcohol. Plus you'll get 5% back onto your membership card when buying anything own brand.
Hope this clarifies it for Co-op customers!
Nope you send them a copy of your nus card, you don’t even need to wait for the card you can use the copy in the app. Amazon will verify the membership is think it’s around 24 hours and then it’s free for 6 min the and £39 a year for three years even if your course was one hour.

OK, £12 for a year, £32 for 3 years.
I use mine for discount in the cinema and Co-Op.
Stumped!!
What about older ones probably use it the same as everyone else. It’s worth it for the three years amazon prime, plus the I think three lots of £10 a year discount vouchers on amazon alone.

If you got stumped on the first page maybe being a student isn’t for you...sorry couldn’t resist. Just put any dates in they don’t check and you can do a single course if a few lessons (don’t have to do the course) and still get three years, even next year when your card expires.
Unfortunately this won't get you student prime, you need a ac.uk email address.

Thankyou, it's changed since I had mine, useful to know.
So basically you have to pay £12 only and that should last how long if using with Amazon?
First thing you do when you're with student prime is this offer click.
Where ?
ahh Ive just got to the point were it asks if you want it delivering to your home for £1.50 extra.
give it a day and you can get it from the NUS app straight away
Unfortunately not all Co-Op's accept it :-(
I have CoOp membership already, but not all CoOp's accept NUS discount.
