Interesting, thanks for posting - always good to see something positive to encourage people to try life on two wheels

great find the boyfriend can ride a ped but has allways wanted to try a bike

this doesn't come along very often, a great opportunity for anyone thinking of giving biking a go...

great idea, would love to give it a go as hubby & teenage sons are mad keen bikers, unfortunately, yet again no-one seems to think that CORNWALL actually exists! C'mon guys out there, what about the periphery of the country, we want a fair shout too!

In 2007, 646 pedestrians were killed in road accidents in Great Britain.

Better stay indoors.

But then again most accidents happen at home............................ :whistling:

Voted hot by the way.

The reality is that people will walk, cycle, drive a car, ride a bike etc, so anything that allows them to try to stuff out, for free, with less risk, has to surely be a good thing. Or would you prefer that people pay, when they can get something free? It's a poor reason to vote cold, just because you don't personally want or like something.

thanks DrRossi for posting this

Great find, repped.

I think you'll find they were mostly killed by car drivers. So your alternative to motorcycling is...?

They are amateurs you turn them round to face the pavement :-D

Fantastic. The centre in my area (Derby) is Shires which have an amazingly good reputation and so much off road space.

I don't think my Dad will take much persuading to come with me, he'll just have to work his way round my Mum!

edit: ah just seen they sent me an email asking what days I'm available. It stipulates these conditions:

The following process will allow you to book a Free One Hour Lesson with Lightning Motorcycle Training and receive an appointment letter via email.

"There are only a few things you need to worry about:

1/. To take a training course you must be at least 16 and have either a provisional UK or Northern Ireland driving licence or a full UK or Northern Ireland driving licence. No other licence is acceptable.
2/. You must be able to see a number plate over 20.5 metres (you can wear glasses or contact lenses to do this).
3/. The Free One Hour Lesson is only done in the training area.
4/. When you have booked please read the appointment letter very carefully as it tells you where to go and what to bring.
5/. The Free One Hour Lesson is free - if you can't attend we would be grateful if you could let us know in advance.
6/. If you are using Internet Explorer 8 please use Compatibility Mode (button to the right of the address bar)."

1/. 125cc Automatic. This is an automatic Piaggio B125 scooter, and is suitable for CBT and Roadrider courses. You must be at least 17 years old and have provisional category "A" on your licence.
2/. 125cc Motorcycle. This is either a Honda CG125 or Yamaha SR125. Both are suitable for CBT and Roadrider courses. You must be at least 17 years old and have provisional category "A" on your licence.

If you are 17 to 20 years old the bike can not exceed 70mph or 125cc. If you are 21 years old or above then it must either be a 125cc machine (for CBT and Roadrider courses) or it must have a manufactures quoted output in excess of 46.5bhp (for DAS courses).

I don't know if anyone has read anything, I can't see it on the site, but equipment, helmet, gloves etc, I don't suppose that's also free or you have to pay to rent on the day?

thanks taking my brother as well, it let me book as many as I wanted

Actually been thinking about getting a bike lately and don't have any experience on bike (full driving licence though), going to book myself an hour to see if I like it or not.

If this lesson isn't up to much I'd recommend anyone interested in riding a bike to take a CBT,

It's a days course costing around £100, you will most likely need to take one before riding on the road anyway.

Just the confirmation email from GetOn so far, been keeping an eye on the junk folder just incase. Let's see what happens today

sent off mine around this time last night, got a call waking me up at 8:30 in the morning, booked for Weds,

There we go, about time, I was getting envious of all you two who were booked in!

Got it for Thursday, nervous as hell!

To anyone deliberating whether to go on this or not, I would seriously recommend going. Had mine earlier today and it was amazing. They provided ALL the kit (Jacket, shoes, gloves included even though it said bring your own) and the training was fantastic. Thanks to the training, I was riding on my own within minutes, and loved every minute of it :D. They also didn't try and push me to buy the tuition packages which was very appreciated.

If you ride like an **** expect **** to happen. Its all down to how you ride bikes. They are dangerous but if you take the precautions you need to then it really helps. You'll find that most drivers are at fault because they don't check for or consider other road users, its amazing how many people don't check mirrors and get lazy. Voted Hot!

Passed this onto my daughter, H&R'd :-D

And there I was just deliberating on what shoes/trainers/boots to wear...and fretting as none of them were suitable.

I didn't think I was that girly

Glad you had have fun, can't wait now!

Truely is fun, just got back, my Dad discovered it wasn't as easy getting back in the saddle as he thought, we both enjoyed it,helmet, gloves, jacket, boots all provided with great service and helped getting them on, loved it.

I've got a scooter, and obviously thinking about proper motorcycle, this deal is perfect to try out real motorbike.
