I have been using this for over 2 years, it works faultlessly every time - I use the app. One of the best things O2 has done to 'connect the country'. Not a new posting, but always great to get reminded of these deals

Some people say it don't work. Try it for yourself and see.

Its been around over a year - I don't bother with the app just join it in store in your browser, the settings are retained.

FWIW those t&c's are hardly any different to any other carrier.

Thanks for posting

good tip thanks did not know about this

Thanks for the post.

Search "iPhone apps"

You really don't need the app for this at all. It's a pretty standard wifi connection just like The Cloud or BT Openzone. Just connect, put your details in (which it retains like what Tenex said) and away you go. Use it on any device you have!

Haven't other places been offering FREE broadband connection, BskyB do the Cloud which has wide coverage. Shopping centers and supermarkets all tend to offer free wifi.

Best not to use if buying or banking though. Never know if someone will have disabled a particular hotspot and set up there own to gather your details.

That's truly intense. Why don't they just bend me over while they are at it? I think I will stick with using my data allowance on my phone.

which has very similar conditions BTW

Wouldn't bother. Looks like wifi in argos shops, subway and 02 store. You will use it once and that's it. Plus they want too much information for my liking

can you connect to a secure VPN through the connection? I wouldn't use free WiFi without a VPN.

Its more akin to the cloud, many places get o2 to handle the logging of users so if anything happens there's traceability. Lots of pubs will have O2 or Cloud in situ.

EE Do it too, most Asda stores use a EE system with similar T&C's

Always been like this. If your wifi is on you just pick it up.

There's been some poor 'deals' here recently

Avoid going near your personal and financial data while using open WIFI networks.

Reviews on iTunes says its a pile if crap so didn't bother downloading app. Went on site to check where hotspots were and just kept getting error message when I inputted either my post code or town!! I guess if you don't live in a big city it's not much point. I had an O2 account years ago and the cover was **** then - some things don't change.

sky customers can get sky wifi most places for free I have the app and connects whenever I an within range which is great as I am a tesco pay as you go customer :-)

might have been mentioned before (using on phone so its terrible to look at) but I've downloaded it and am looking up where it works near me and so far I see in the west end of London only, so not near me. does it mention other places when you go into them, that aren't listed now?

IMPORTANT: Those not too familiar with how WIFI hotspots work, do check out this news item on BBC Click before you plan on using Wifi networks via hotspots:

bbc.co.uk/new…598

For the last few days when I use the o2 find a hotspot the site returns 'An Error Has Occurred.'

Criminals can set up a wifi hotspot on a laptop or phone and capture any data you send. If you use HUKD whilst using their fake hotspot they have your username and password.

im searching for the nearest hotspots on the website and it keeps saying an error has occurred.

Thats the key, write and tell them not to send you junk.

usually with these services if you opt out of receiving their marketing junk, you also forfeit the right to use the service.

always give them a unique email address so you'll know when they sell your email address on, and then you can automatically filter and delete their junk. gmail users can use "myaccount+o2wifi@gmail.com", as the "+o2wifi" bit is ignored and the mail still gets to you.
