This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

EDIT : End date now added.

Limited offer. Ends 21 October 2021
Limited offer. Now extended to 2 December 2021

For all those asking when the cashback will be paid I've highlighted it in the terms below. It's between 60-90 days after the request to switch.

Get £130 cashback when you switch your current account to us
Here's how it works:
Apply for an eligible current account online: 1|2|3 Current Account, 1|2|3 Lite Current Account, Everyday Current Account, Select Current Account, Private Current Account
When you fill in the online application, choose the option to switch your account to us (this must be a current account you hold elsewhere)
Within 60 days of telling us to switch your account, you’ll need to complete the switch, set up 2 active Direct Debits, pay in £1,000 and log on to Online or Mobile Banking.
We’ll take care of your switch, using the Current Account Switch Service.

60 days after you tell us to switch your account, we’ll check to make sure you are eligible and then pay £130 cashback into your account within the next 30 days.

Already have an eligible current account with us? You can switch a current account you hold elsewhere to your existing Santander one to benefit from this offer. Simply visit your local branch. You may need to book an appointment.

Offer may be withdrawn at any time. For further information, including the terms and conditions (40 KB), please see the ‘£130 cashback when you switch’ section below.

For new and existing customers

Get £130 cashback when you switch a current account you hold elsewhere to one of our selected current accounts, using the Current Account Switch Service.

To qualify for the offer, within 60 days of telling us to switch your account, you’ll need to:

  • have successfully completed the switch, which includes closing the account not held with us
  • set up at least 2 active Direct Debits
  • pay in £1,000, and
  • log on to Online or Mobile Banking.
Take a look at the terms and conditions (40 KB)

To apply

You’ll get £130 cashback for switching to one of our eligible current accounts:

1|2|3 Current Account
1|2|3 Lite Current Account
Everyday Current Account
Select Current Account
Private Current Account

If you're a new customer, you'll need to do the following to start the switch.

  • First, decide which account you want to apply for from the ones listed above and click on the link to visit the page.
  • On the page, click 'Apply' to start the online application process.
  • In your online application, choose the option to switch your account.
Remember, you’ll need to meet the eligibility for the account you’re applying for, and meet the switcher offer terms to qualify for the extra £130 cashback.

Already have an eligible current account with us? You can switch a current account you hold elsewhere to your existing Santander one to benefit from this offer. Simply visit your local branch You may need to book an appointment.

Cashback payment

60 days after you tell us to switch your account, we’ll check to make sure you are eligible and then pay £130 cashback into your qualifying account within the next 30 days. So you can expect payment around 90 days after you tell us to switch your account, as long as you’ve met the eligibility criteria.

If the qualifying account is held in joint names and you’re eligible for the cashback payment, then we’ll make one payment only (you won’t get one payment each).

We reserve the right to not make any cashback payment where we suspect or are made aware that the switcher offer is being abused. For example by closing an existing current account in order to switch back to us to receive the cashback payment.

If you’ve asked to switch during the offer and we then withdraw the offer before your switch completes, you’ll still be eligible for the cashback as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

If you think you’ve met eligibility criteria and haven’t received your £130 cashback after the 90 days, you can contact us by logging on to Online or Mobile Banking, click on ‘chat with us’ and let us know that you’ve not received your cashback.

Existing customers not switching a current account held elsewhere aren’t eligible for £130 cashback because this is a switcher offer. As you already have your current account with us, you could already be benefitting from ongoing cashback on selected household bills. If your Santander current account doesn’t give you cashback, see how much you could earn with our 1|2|3 current accounts

Not all banks are part of the Current Account Switching Service (CASS). Speak to your own bank or visit the CASS website for details.

    Nope. From here santander.co.uk/personal/support/current-accounts/switching

"Already have an eligible current account with us? You can switch a current account you hold elsewhere to your existing Santander one to benefit from this offer. Simply visit your local branch. You may need to book an appointment."

Don't bother about the appointment thing, you can switch by phone.

"Our dedicated switcher team is available to provide help and assistance at any stage throughout the switching process. You can contact the Switcher Team on 0800 085 2202. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm."

I've just noticed this too "Limited offer. Ends 21 October 2021.", so don't hang about! (edited)

I currently have the 123 a/c and when trying to switch, it mentioned about having to make an appointment and Ive no branches near me.I'll give them a call tomorrow as busy today and hope I can transfer. One thing, I have other b/a's such as HSBC, Nationwide etc so by switching, will my regular transfers all go through without issue. I circle £1500 from b/a to b/a monthly to make sure I get whatever eliible promotions each bank offers.

The only thing you'll need to change is the revolving £1500 standing order "IN" to hit the new Santander account, once opened, otherwise it will keep trying to go to your old switched (and subsequently closed) account. The £1500 "OUT" should switch across OK.

    Hope that makes sense.

I'm actually considering if it's a good idea as had a nightmare switching to another bank a few months back re DD's and standing orders (Lloyds). If was rectified in the end but took hours and hours to resolve over the phone. I'll give Santander a call tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks again for the info

I switched a Nationwide account to Santander. It should only be one standing order you need to change. Mine was £1000 Lloyds (my main bank) to Nationwide which I changed to £1000 Lloyds to New Santander. Everything else was switched over automatically.

    Good luck.

Over last few years Santander have been trimming the benefits of their 123 account to the point where the costs now nearly out weigh the cash backs / interests payments. Shame as it used to be good. Maybe time for a switch away

This has been a good year for those like me who use multiple current accounts to take advantage of switching deals:
    £100 from Halifax
    £125 from Nationwide
    £100 from Lloyds
    now £130 from Santander

    total £455

Might seem great the £100 odd quid they offer but the fuss of setting up, notifying your employer of change of details, porting over details for regular payments, impact on credit file, etc. Urgh. I’d only ever move if I really wanted to stick with that account for the long term. Santander is definitely not one of those banks.

Most people who go for these deals have a main current account they keep long term, but have multiple current accounts they use for switching to take advantage of these deals as they come along. My main account has been with Lloyds for several decades, but I've made over £1000 in swiching over the last few years. In view of the amount of effort involved, it works out at a very good hourly rate. However, the reason many people do it is because they enjoy screwing as much money as possible out of financial institutions whose main aim is to screw as much money as possible out of them.

However, the third branch on the list at 8.7km away does actually have much earlier slots available. Would we be able to choose and visit that particular branch or are customers designated a specific branch which is the closest one to where they live when they opened the account? Thanks in advance for any replies
