Probably the best deal for ADSL available at the moment. There has been better, but nothing out there at the moment so voting hot.

Am with Sky on a MSE deal, been absolutely fine. Have had some minor issues this last week, but I think the router is giving up the ghost - time will tell

Just so you know this is for fiber limited to 25gb monthly usage. Unlimited is £30.

I'm with SKY Fibre, have you got the Q hub? I don't find the range very good. My previous BT Homehub 5 is better.

Nah I have the older router. My brother signed up on a similar package to me a few weeks later and got a Q box. Had some issues with his wireless home phone and interference but eventually sorted it. Works fine for his 1 bed house but does seem the signal is a bit flaky in these devices

If you have the BT Hub 5A (doesn't work on the 'B' version) install Lede (Openwrt) on it and you can use it with sky fibre instead:- openwrt.ebilan.co.uk/vie…572

Look at the garbage router, not even gigaports

Forgive my ignorace, what does LEAD (Openwrt) firmware do compared to what's already on the BT HUB?

All supplied routers are garbage, best option is use virgin for Internet but run the router in modem mode & add your own decent wireless router

Ain't that the truth! Can you believe Sky actually tried to break our original broadband contract because i took out (what i thought) was a good offer on the tv and tried saying our original offer was now only valid with a tv deal!

Was on the phone for over an hour trying to get out of our broken contract and has to threaten in the end to get a result,AVOID SKY AT ALL COSTS!

That's the route I have taken but still having problems. Connection requests failing randomly whist still connecting on other devices.
Currently rebooting modem at least 3 times daily!

If you've got your own router you can obtain the information out of the sky router using wireshark.
I use a TP link just fine on mine.

Isn't that your fault for faffing around with your contact then...?

I signed up to a deal that ended up working out only £3 a month (from HUKDs!) but Sky broadband isn't even worth that much.
very poor reliability!!

Lede is a fork of Openwrt, which is a linux distro designed for routers. Lede has better support for the BT hub5a than the current Openwrt distro.

The standard Firmware on BT hubs supplied with BT broadband contracts is locked to BT ISPs, so you can still use it if you switch to Plusnet, but not with Sky and most other ISPs.

The Lede/Openwrt firmware isn't locked, doesn't have the highly limited user configurable options of the original firmware, can have additional packages installed, such as OpenVPN, and support for numerous DDNS providers. It also supports WDS or can be set up as a wifi client. You can even change the colours of the LEDs if you want.

The main downside is it is more complicated to configure.

I got this (or a very similar) deal last year which offered a prepaid card. This offer just reminded me that I never recieved that card. I'll contact them now and see what the score is.

The broadband itself is fine. I reci ved the router as in the picture above which struggled to connect to devices upstairs (the router is downstairs). When they put the prices up slightly a few months ago I used that as leverage to voice my complaints and they sent me a free sky Q router. It worked very well at first but we have since moved to a slightly bigger house and it won't connect at all upstairs.

I have one of those free WiFi extenders from sky from a while ago and that struggles to stay connected to the router, if at all.

I'll weigh up other options when my contract expires in November.

Doe it without tv for a long time

Sky have always offered standalone broadband 🙄

Sky broadband is fine, but their router isn't. You can get the password out if it and use your own.

Try cancelling a sky TV package with, took me ten hours of messing about, they are a joke.

They make it so hard to cancel on purpose, not to mention the 3 times they put the phone down on me when I mentioned the word cancel.

Google all the complaints about sky.

I mean I am with talk talk for everything and Thier customers service is crap, but least they sort any problems

One lady at sky even refused to cancel my contract because she should have finished at 8pm and it was 8.45. fing unreal.

This is not to mention the rip off prices £50 pm just for sky TV with sports.

Talk talk I pay 48 a month with sky movies, all the sky sports, landline and unlimited fiber and mobile SIM plus £95 top cashback and £2 per month cheaper than these clowns.

The are called sky for a reason and that being their prices are sky high.

Liam88839 m ago

Probably upset you never got an offer of some sort

They did offer me a £30 deal for the same package, but to be honest for 18pm more I get a free SIM sky movies, landline and unlimited 40mb fiber. I would never use sky again.

I know a few people who went with sky fiber and they never give you the full potential your line can handle, they give you the lowest speeds they think they can get away with, because they are bags.
Edited by moderator: "word" 27th Aug

Zen Internet is the best (not the cheapest) broadand provider and they will sort your line problems out with BT openreach

I have Sky and suppose I have been lucky to have had no problems with the unlimited dl service, but with the wifi being very poor, I did purchase "TP-Link 600 Mbps 2-Port Passthrough Powerline Adapter" and it works very well, giving me full speed to my laptop in the other part of my house, so try here: amazon.co.uk/dp/…c=1 works a treat.

Err how about they mislead people on the phone falsely selling packages without telling them of changes to their existing deals in an attempt to con them out of more money? Shocking company that doesn't respect people's contracts

Gosh you had it even worse than me,I just kept referring to their terms and conditions over and over again making myself feel like a t*** on the phone for an hour and half and eventually managed to get out of a locked contract for double the price I had signed up for !!

They are so rude on the phone when it comes down to either paying them less or cancelling,I swore not to have sky years ago when I remember what a faff it was to cancel but now that they tried to breach our original broadband contract because I took an offer out on a tv package (also falsely sold me credit on the phone just to put the order in and had to chase them up about that) they are such a shocking company I don't know how they get away with it!

Even if sky wanted to give me all they had for free I wouldn't take it ,a terrible A-moral filth of a company.

I'm with Sky for both tv and broadband

TV is sports but no movies. Pay £39 for this.

And unlimited ADSL broadband which currently us £19 a month but will go upto £28 in October.

The tv contract still has a bit of time to go. So can't cancel this.

But want to possibly change from ADSL to fibre. Need better connection than I have for gaming and also streaming as It is always buffering and is very painful.

Any recommendations for fibre. I've seen a Vodafone offer for £25 a month which seems good but are they any good?

Any recommendations would be great.

Me either I wont ever go back to them.
The thing that really put the icing on the cake for me was the rude women who refused to cancel as she finished at 8pm, if only my arm could have reached down the phone to strangle her (I'd be up for murder now)

I'm with Sky for telly, 25 quid a month all channels including sports, movies and box sets till September next year and have been on that tariff since April last year, then I pay 14 quid a month I think on top for multi room so we get a second Sky Q box in our bedroom.

Internet with BT which is unlimited fibre, unlimited calls and BT sport is around 45 quid a month for a 12 month contract but we did get a 200 quid pre-paid BT MasterCard and 100 quid casback on Quidco which has been honoured when we took that deal in March with the calls and sport being optional so work out yourself what it would work out over the year without those add ons

But don't listen to me, let the BBC loving Sky haters tell you what a stripe up Sky are hmmmmm more like they can't negotiate a good deal to pay for stuff worth watching but are happy to weigh on 150 quid a year for liberal biased programming some of us don't ever watch

Nice

Its not the fact we cannot negotiate a deal, it's the fact the company stinks and are very rude, and when you want to cancel.
They take the p and mess you about so you say o no it's ok I will stay with you as it's to much Hassle to leave.

If you don't believe me read the millions of sky complaints and the fact ofcom was investigating them for over two years.

Yep I'm one of those "millions of sky complaints" you're reading

Edit: Oh and I lied about 14 quid a month extra for the Sky Q minibox, as you can see it's actually 12 quid
Edited by: "Chasloyal" 27th Aug

Yeah but your with them, the complaint is when you want to leave them, they make it so hard and you have to waste hours upon hours of you time trying to do so.
You will find out if you ever try to cancel your package.

They are very naughty what they do.
