Have to totally agree
Same price at Currys with possible 5% Quidco cashback or £10 cashback @ Carphone warehouse
The price is not bad, as long as you like the looks :-)
Not an iPhone so cold from me.
I have this phone and paid £629 at launch with a 'free" Google home mini included , phone is best I've ever owned , camera is phenomenal, battery life is incredible and charges super quickly but the most overlooked feature IMO is the software , first time I've ever used stock android and it's safe to say I'll never go back , never used something so buttery smooth before
Gawd bless ya and I don't begrudge anyone trying to help us all save a few bob but wasn't this all covered here a few days ago?

My biggest quandry is whether I should go for a phone that I don't need but can afford or not.

Good. Not all of us have fallen to the God called Apple. Long live the revolution!!!!

Marketing which hooks (some) people to those apps and eventually that will turn to revenue generation when those users buy the apps and/or hardware.

It's about identifying that version of android and linking it to the manufacturer's brand. That way, customers get used to that look and feel and it's a hook to keep them buying into that version of android again in future.

The Pixel 2 isn't actually stock Android - Google have skinned it to be unique to Google.
Does this phone bootloop like the Nexus 5X?
The Pixel 2 is a fantastic phone, but the huge (and ugly) bezels really put me off. I also prefer larger screens. Before you tell me to go for the XL, the screen issues (blue shift, burn-in, black smear) have put me off that as well. Such a shame, but I decided against this year's Pixel phones. Bit the bullet and went went for the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, very happy so far!

Loving the mate 10 pro. Have you had any issues with connecting to a Chromecast? Mine seems to not always see it, yet other phones in the house do?
If only it had a better quality screen
no god damn headphone jack

WTF seriously WTF

First thing I do with my new phone is always install Google now launcher and disable any duplicate apps just leaving the Google stock ones!
i have the pixel 2. amazing phone. camera is awesome. bezels are fine. no problems

Nope. HTC made. I avoided the LG made pixel 2xl for that reason. Got tired of baking my 5x in the oven to fix it
It's almost like there's is a big world mobile event at the end of the month and shops are trying to shift stock beforehand or something

Yes I own the Pixel 2. Took a punt on it because my Sony Xperia XZ couldn't do a blue light filter. 3rd party apps on Oreo can NOT draw over the system UI and since Sony made the mistake of not offering a native blue light filter I was royally screwed, I had to use Substratum which to say the least is a load of rubbish. So I thought whose going to do this properly? Well Google since they make the phone. What I wasn't ready for is how and it's no exaggeration to say fast this phone is. Boots in what seems like 10 seconds. Everything downloads and install rapidly and the software integration is fantastic. The squeeze to bring up Google Assistant is also a neat feature.

Easily the best Android phone I've ever used. The main cons are no micro SD card slot and no 3.5mm headphone jack, although you can use a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter that comes with the phone, but do yourself a favour and buy the HTC adapter for £10 or so as the DAC is better, sounds better.
Id rather have £70 off the 64GB
Moss877 h, 26 m ago

There's a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box. So it's not a completely hopeless situation. As I mentioned as some one else told me on this forum the HTC USB-C adapter sounds better and it's about £10.

Well I agree there as this phone will fairly quickly lose value over the course of this year. It's no Apple for resale value unfortunately. I paid £529 for 64GB version at Christmas with a free Google Mini and I've already seen this phone for £379 on Smartfonestore before it sold out. So yeah the price drop will be grim on this phone, but I plan to keep it for a couple years now, and hope I choose a suitable successor in the future.

Yeah funny that...
Got this the other day. The phone just seems... Like a no-nonsense thing to me. It just gets the job done with nothing getting in the way (especially not lag). It's the smartest smartphone ever. Really. If you are out and about a lot, this is the phone for you. The amount of new things you learn when you take it out if your pocket. Amazing phone.
Still way overpriced. Save money and get a better phone in the OnePlus 5T.
Have the XL2 forget the negative reviews of terrible screen etc, all blown out of proportion...yes there is a blue tint if you look at it on a angle but who does that, I look at my phone straight on and it is pin sharp with great colours, no screen burn here once again that's OTT
Best phone I have had, and I have dabbled in loads from iPhones to all different type of Androids, I had the 6P loved stock android, tried a S8 soon ditched that, had to get back to stock android, so glad I did this is even better software than my 6P but has been said has its own unique Google skin as well.
The camera is next level performance for a smartphone, lag free, and Google services and especially the assistant integration is scarily good...I know everyone has there preference but I can't see why you would choose another android handset imo especially when prices are getting reasonable now and more affordable
