Go get it now - you're a leader not a follower, right?

Beginning today at 10 a.m. P.T., the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will start rolling out to Windows 10 PCs across the world in phases, starting with newer machines first.

How is this even a deal nor a freebie, it's literally an update

Is this sarcasm?

Again, MS struggles to spell fail.

Cold. Refuses to install on my tablet unless I can free up almost all the disk space not already used by Windows itself....

Same here - says it needs 8gb free

Please don't install this just yet. There's major issues with it, it seems. I installed this 2 days ago and now my pc takes 30 to 45 mins to start up after refusing to recognise my password and then it takes 5 to 10 mins to respond to any clicks on the screen...
I can't even get into my windows menu to restore to previous version right now. A lot of people are having issues with this update and it's doing my head in.

Maybe it's a case of people who have problems shout loudest but I've installed it and it's working absolutely fine with zero problems. The update took 3 hours from clicking go but it's quite and old laptop (Core 2 duo with a HDD) and only the last 40 minutes was the computer in it's 'restart don't turn off the computer' phase, newer computers with SSDs the entire update can take as little as 20-30 minutes.

The only annoying thing is Microsoft in their infinite wisdom have decided to keep the new emoji search box (this thing) only on keyboards set to English US so it's not available here in the UK by pressing Win+(full stop)

How did you install it two days ago when it came out today? Did you install an insider build? In which case bugs are expected as you have non public release testing build.

I don't even know what Windows is anymore.

Of course not. It's not the most popular OS in the world for nothing

No. It's the most popular OS in the world because vendor lock-in.

No, because it's the most universally compatible

Lol. Remember the last creator update. Took hours to apply and then after I ask the question why? Hardly any different.

cold, we have been getting this notification from ops for weeks now. its not a deal, its not free, its an upgrade to your existing windows 10.

wrong on first 3 counts

it's not in Deals, it IS a Freebie, it came out yesterday (Insiders could test it earlier)

if you're upgrading from W10 non-Creators Update OS (ie you didn't upgrade to the April Creator's Update) straight to the Fall Creator's update, then it's more of a new operating system than an upgrade - I call it Windows 14

so that would make you wrong on all 4 counts

i was completely right, and you were wrong on all accounts, it was in deals when i posted, not freebies.

its windows 10, going to a feature update of windows 10, all as a part of windows agreement to provide updates. Windows 7 also had feature updates amongst security updates and important updates etc.

Well done for knowing absolutely nothing.

Aside from being able to disable the lock screen again ?

Windows 10 is still a schizophrenic UX disaster. MS know that forcing the app/tablet/store stuff into the desktop experience was a failure, but I guess it's too late to roll back on that now. Anyone looking for something more stable and debloated should check out Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB.

One thing about doing this update this way is that it allows me to set a restore point before it runs

It was never in Deals - it was posted as a Freebie - however you might not have noticed the Freebie sticker as Freebies now join the Deals thread when commented on

and it IS brand spanking new, only released yesterday

it might technically be an upgrade but if you upgrade from W10 (non-Spring Creator's Update) to this Fall CU, it will similar to a new OS installation, taking 90 mins or so plus you wil get the 'Welcome, just setting things up for you' etc when you first log back in

so you're a) wrong, b) wrong, c) wrong, d) technically right but again wrong for many people

This was posted a few days ago.

no it wasn't

I use my smartphone more now, it will never be able to do everything windows can but for simple browsing who needs windows. Windows is like a tradesman laying out all his available tools at every job only to find a simple task was needed!

That's odd. There was definitely a deal posted about the windows 10 creators update a few days ago, but trying to search for it now there's nothing.

As you were I guess..

that was the SPRING (April) Creator's Update

this is the FALL Creator's Update, released yesterday

Thx

Does this mean Windows 10 users are in for a fall?

After using Windows since 3.1 and every version between, I gave up on the OS after Windows 7. Yes, I did try Windows 10 for a while and reverted to 7. I have to use Windows at least once a week, but thankfully it's only for a few minutes.

...It's the same thing? It's still the Creator's update.

Anything to get some heat I guess..

More people use Windows 7...

I would never do this, too many times a windows update has killed a machine. I'll postpone as long as possible until hopefully all the bugs are ironed out

Windows in general obviously

this is a news announcement for an update, how is this a deal with no price?

"you're a leader not a follower, right?"

AKA Public Beta Tester. Never update a working system immediately, let others take the pain for you.
