The series was created especially for children with autism spectrum conditions (autism for short) who find it hard to recognise causes of emotion and facial expressions of emotion.

This is the first time high−quality broadcast animation techniques have been used to produce a series aimed at an audience on the autistic spectrum. We hope The Transporters will act as a bridge between the mechanical world children with autism enjoy and the human world that they usually turn away from.

Children with autism tend to love vehicles, probably because they move predictably. They seem to dislike objects that move unpredictably. But children with autism love vehicles that are much more constrained in their movements - like trams, cable cars, trains and funiculars.

With The Transporters, children who don’t naturally want to look at peoples' unpredictable faces may be interested in the characters' faces. These are ‘grafted’ onto beautifully predictable, attractive vehicles. Then it becomes easier to learn to understand their expressions.

Thanks emasu

For those who are unaware about autism - the following site is helpful for further information:
nas.org.uk/

Autistic spectrum disorders are estimated to touch the lives of over 500,000 families throughout the UK. People with autism are not physically disabled in the same way that a person with cerebral palsy may be; they do not require wheelchairs and they 'look' just like anybody without the disability. Due to this invisible nature it can be much harder to create awareness and understanding of the condition.

Because an autistic child looks 'normal' others assume they are naughty or the parents are not controlling the child. Strangers frequently comment on this 'failing'.

Good post, promoting awareness to conditions like autism is always important.

Voted hot. To vote it cold because it is not to your specific need or want is pretty selfish if you ask me :?
It's not for me, but social awareness of stuff like this is never a bad thing. Anyone with an autistic child will appreciate this post a lot.

Man, I thought this was the Jason Statham film "The Transporter" dissapointed...

I had a belly laugh when I saw the body text of the post.

Ordered this DVD several months back - nothing arrived!

We had ours, it's too young for our son who is 12 and has AS however we will pass it around our friends with younger children.

thanks

Have seen this posted before and a lot of people sent off for it even though they didnt have an autistic child.

I ask you to PLEASE only order this if it will be of use to an autistic child in your care.

 Excellent. Thank you very much. I work in a pre school with a child who may have autism. This will be very useful. Thanks again.

Voted Hot, I have four children that are NOT Autistic & I am thankful for that, to vote this cold is an indication as to the half intelligent leeches that vote on this forum & yes you all know who you are! You really make me feel sad.

Talk of taking advantage, yeh we all like 2 sell a bit on eBay once in a while, but this really takes the p**s
Now those people who genuinely wanted it 4 their child or it being for some other beneficial use ( student etc ) can now know where their free copy is being exploited.
