Good luck to all who decide to kick the habit, it's worth it in the long run.

If anyone wants this I really would suggest ordering online, last year and year before they were OOS at all of my local pharmacies for weeks, ordered one for my mum last week

Why dont they just give out Electronic Cigarettes instead of this rubbish paperwork.

True patti that's how I gave up

I gave up smoking 31 years ago , never felt better .... Btw I'm only 31 lol he he

bah! I keep trying to fill in the online form on my phone but it keeps giving me a 'something went wrong' message. Will try tomorrow on a computer.

because there is no evidence base that proves e-cigarettes are safe, therefore the NHS can't prescribe them like they can patches etc

Thanks for post OP.

What's in the pack this year? I think they stopped doing those Tangles

I stopped in May via electronic cigs. Recommend it if nothing else works, but avoid ecigs from shops/ petrol stations / chemists as I found them to be bog standard, check out online reviews for the best ones. I'm currently on Jac Vapour VG02 with Tobacco Virginia and it stopped me smoking 15-20 rollups a day.

Just leaflets this year,no stress toys!

Gave up 2 years ago after mid-level smoking for 22 years (about 20 a day). Have to say it really is worth it. I didn't feel unhealthy when still a smoker but can really notice the difference in fitness since quitting.
For me the Alan Carr book worked really well, best of luck to anyone going for it. Will be the best decision you make this decade.

i stopped last year with stop-tober went cold turkey never looked back never realised how bad it actually smells and truly costs

That's not true. It has nothing to do with whther e-cigs are safe, there are already an awful lot of research papers conducted by top scientists across the world looking at their safety, effects of passive inhalation, ingredients, dosage of nicotine, nicotine absorption, effects in trying to quir etc. They have been proven by all this research time and time again to be safe.

There are many reasons why the EU would like them banned and the MHRA would like them regulated as a medicinal product. Much of the reasoning lies in the realms of political gains and the big Pharma companies/big tobacco/anti-smoking lobbyists, all of whom have nice investments in our governments and our health services. More over, the Pharmaceutical companies who produce the nicotine replacement products fund the MHRA, and these companies have been seriously hit by the sudden rise of e-cigarettes.

It makes me sad that the ploys of various groups to instill these misbeliefs in the general public are working. Your post has just proved that.

If you don;'t believe my words, please do go to a myriad of e-cigarette rfesources online, on e-cig forums, links from UK and euro vendors, the medical reserach papers themselves are online for you.

Please don't propel the myths.

So you've not stopped then?

I haven't noticed a difference in health since quitting smoking, but my bank balance is much happier

Good luck with Stoptober everyone who is giving it a go Do whatever works for you, and remember that its normal to find the first few days a bit hairy - the one thing that put it in perspective for me when quitting was something my partner said :

"Just don't put a cigarette in your mouth, that's all you have to do"

Could have punched him at the time (we were quitting together and he was finding it annoyingly easy) but it sort of simplified the whole process in my brain, that it shouldn't be that difficult to not buy cigarettes and put them in my mouth! It seems such a huge challenge that you build it up into a monstrous mountain but sometimes it helps just to look at things in its simplest form x

@Bermuda, stoppped smoking roll up cigarettes. Am vaping tobacco Virginia flavour e liquid.
