I believe this is just a wireless router with no modem built in. It does say its a cable router on the play website.

Oh dear oh dear me Barry.
To me.
To you.

Yeh, get a BT modem, and gift all your bandwidth and electricity free to BT's other services on your broadband line.

Yes, but you would still need a cable modem to plug into the WAN port on this router.

How do you get to this price please?

Now showing at £25.17 I bought an O2 Wireless Box IV from an O2 shop (walked in, not online) the other week for a tenner which had 2 USB sockets for storage attachment etc etc. Not sure if the offer's still on.

You say that but it's pretty easy, just ring up complain about your router dropping connection they'll send you another one. My dad did it a few months back, now has a wireless n router free.

Buy a BT (2-wire) HGV2700 and turn off Fusion and Openzone in the config pages - simples... holds some lines better too, thats why BT issue it to business customers only. I have one that out-performs my old speedtouch 585v6 - itself a very good router. The 2-wire can be picked up for little money on ebay. Not sure about the broadband voice thing - as I dont have BT as an ISP. I use Skype for IP fone - assume the bb voice thing is a bt service so it isnt used here at all. Problem with "Free" routers is they usually come with a long contract, and some ISP's hard code your log in to try to prevent you from swapping it out for a unit which may better suit a long or unstable line.

The unit here seems to be a vanilla wireless router with no modem so is of limited use to many. It was a good price if you need something like that tho...

I find it easier not to respond to sarcastic posts like that one lol. I did not even have to complain, i just asked for 50mb and got it free with the internet package
