Hey, thats a nice bike
Was waiting for this to come down the next notch, I don't think we will really see lower than this even in the middle of winter. Got the proper 105 hydro levers which is a big deal - other Giants at this price point don't.

Rutland are 3% on topcashback too, not sure if it will track but I've tried!

Believe it or not when you are exercising you generates quite a lot of heat and often need cooling more than warming up ( even in the depths of winter, which is why people often layer clothing up).
Heat! Any decent gravel bikes around 800£ OP?

This is true, but still, is it really worth 1.5k? It's just a piece of metal with a couple wheels. Don't know what makes this so different from one you can pick up from halfords?

It was cheaper than this earlier this week when I posted the deal onto the comments about the Ribble R872. Rutland then put the price up to £1793.99 and changed it again the day after. It is entirely possible it will go back to the previous price before winter.

You must drive an old Lada on that basis.

can you remember what that previous price was? wonder if they changed it due to a voucher being offered, or was that the case with the previous price
Very nice bike for the money and I see it's the proper 105 hydraulic shifters rather than the ugly RS505 shifters.

Why spend 20k on a good car when you can buy a fiesta for 2k... Same principles apply. You pay for quality. And £1500 for a bike like that is a bargain

So the main reason this is expensive is the amount of development that has gone into the frame. It's Giants latest aerodynamic offering, so a lot of time will have been spent hiding the cables so they don't cause drag and using different grades of carbon in different places on the bike in different thicknesses and directions in order to make it stiff (you want stiff for maximum power transfer during a sprint) but also making it flexible to keep it comfortable (for hours in the saddle). Where as a bike from Halfords may be using an outdated or mass produced frame which will be inherently cheaper. Maybe in a couple of years time you'll see a frame just like this one in Halfords.

Recall it was about 1450 before voucher.

£1438.99, so 1338.99 after the voucher. I had it in my basket and was playing the waiting game but ironically the price went up instead of down

I see the 4 wheels with tax, insurance and heating every day when I cycle to work. They're sat in a massive traffic jam doing about 1mph breathing in each other tailpipe cocktail of fumes. But hey at least they have heating.
Meanwhile I've arrived at work and having my first cup of coffee.

Similar - waiting for cyclescheme voucher!! Think I'll still jump at this price though as an extra 10 a month is nothing really

I got a bit of a laugh out of how ridiculous my own post sounded, but had a bit of genuine interest at the same time.

Thanks for the explanation. Didn't think about the extra time spent on development of course
Just wow!

I've emailed them and asked them about the previous price and they're not acknowledging it was ever priced that low, wonder if it was the exact same trim Propel.

It was definitely this one - had it in my basket at the lower price, refreshed the next day, 200 quid more expensive!

I’m 6.4”, smack in the middle of L and XL

On my current XL Giant Contend my saddle is the whole way forward, so not sure if that means I need a smaller frame or if I’m just not flexible enough yet.

Most likely gonna need a bike fit, but don’t want this deal to pass, saw one in the flesh and the green looks great

Do you know how to measure your inside leg? Get a book, place in between your legs, measure from the top of the book to the floor. repeat 3 times, Inside leg measurement!

Yeah i’ve done that and i’m 35” if i remember correctly, however it still doesn’t explain why my saddle needs to be slammed the whole way forward on my current XL frame ha

I’m gonna make a thread online asking for some advice

If you're not sure, go for the smaller size. You can always make a smaller bike bigger with stem, handle bar, seat height. It's very hard to make a big bike smaller.

Yep, So with code it would have been 1340. They did the same with the non disc version also. That was 993 before code and then they slapped an extra 125 on it.
