A great lightweight bike, giant is a great name.

105 groupset is great, it's a great deal from Rutland Cycling, especially as Tiagra TCR's are still selling for over £700 used

Not bad. But with same wheels and better spec groupset I'd be tempted to go with the defy 0 with Ultegra at £60 cheaper.

Depends if you want giant composite or alu frame

Not bad at all, but with no wheels and no groupset I'd be tempted to save £899.99. Ofc the downside is a heavier bank balance.

hey guys, quick question. why would you pick the giant over serving like this?

planetx.co.uk/i/q…ike

Very good offer/spec esp for possible newbies or winte bike!

To be honest, I wouldn't, I owned a planetx this year, and looking at getting another, they are Stella bikes, light, fast, and responsive, and will be my bike come the new year, with giant, you pay for the name a lot of the time, I shared it because it's a good price, but the planetx pro carbon will be my choice come late jan. Put the money you save, plus a bit more into some decent wheels

I'd go with the planet x one. Roughly same spec and weights. The £150 difference could go towards better upgrades

good question. the Giant is meant to have a better frame. I have ridden a Carbon TCR and its very stiff as you pedal, it basically 'surges' forward with each pedal stroke. I have also ridden a Planet X pro carbon (but with 10 speed SRAM red) and its a totally different ride), much softer feeling. As they are both mail order, you won't be able to ride them side by side. I'd say, if you want 'very racey' feeling, go Giant, if you want all day comfort, go Planet X.

shame its white

thanks for the response.
I've got a specialized sectuer, had it for 3 years and am looking for an upgrade once spring arrives. I was thinking the planet x carbon pro with some shimano rs81s wheels.

I just wasn't sure what the price gap was for but appreciate the honest feedback

thanks, I do long tours in Europe every year so comfort is key for me.
got liege Bastogne liege this year

it would be a boring world if everyone had the same bike, sometimes it's nice to be different.

Good morning Hukd! Good deal but I'd be tempted to buy 9 of the Viking bikes from the Amazon flash deal the other day. Sorry I mean not a moto g.

On a serious note though, how long would this bike last if looked after?

Years and years, obviously you need to change pads and cables as you do every bike, all bikes wear, but the frame will last ages

Bought this bike earlier this year when it was £999.99, mine was a medium which is out of stock since its been this price. Absolutely love it and can recommend, I actually like he colour being white.

Work colleagues son it very much into bikes and lives in Sheffield and before I even bought a new bike, said whatever you do don't buy a Planet X bike, I think the frames let them down.

Rutland have several stores and there are Giant dealers all over the country if you want to look at one / try one out.
