Gibson Midtown Custom Electric Guitar Made in USA £820 From Thomann.de

I just got mine delivered and am delighted.

Thomann appear to have commissioned a limited run of the Gibson Midtown which is an electric guitar with chambers - looks like a 335 but is in between a 335 and 339 is size.

It's finished in gloss colours and comes with a genuine Gibson case. Before being discontinued in this country they were selling for £1099 - even used ones are going for £950 in the UK. As there is no import duty from Germany and free delivery on this item - you get it for around £820 - (Depending on the day you do the deal as they adjust the EURO/GBP pricing daily)

The guitar is finished in Gloss, and not that awful satin that Gibson are currently selling in the UK right now. The guitar feels really good, and at this price you're basically getting a brand new guitar for second hand money!

Blurb:
Gibson Midtown Custom EB, electric guitar, special Run exclusive for Musikhaus Thomann, flat bound maple top with f-holes thomann and multi-ply, top binding, chambered mahogany back, mahogany neck, 60s Slim Taper, acrylic split diamond headstock inlay, black richlite fretboard, acrylic block inlay, pickups: Gibson Burstbucker 1/ Gibson Burstbucker 2, controls: 2x volume/ 2x tone, three-way switch, chrome tune-o-matic bridge, Kidney tuners, color thomann ebony, incl. Gibson hardshell case, made in USA

The main URL will take you to the vintage sunburst, but it's also available in black - here thomann.de/gb/…htm
should the link not work - click on the black guitar at the top of the page.

If you're looking for a Gibson semi (but not a traditional build) for less than £820 this could well be for you.

This is my 4th or 5th deal so still finding my way -be kind please!

Bargain for a USA made Gibson. Look after it as I reckon these will hold their value.

Excellent deal. I'm left handed so I won't be adding it to my collection. My best guitar is an SG Custom triple humbucker 1972 or there abouts. I have about 6 guitars, and well you always need/want more

On a side note anyone tried Elixir strings? I just bought a set for £9.99 from Amazon and they're supposed to last a lot longer. Ah well I'll find out tomorrow if I like them.

selling nice epiphone guitars as well

Lefty here. I have started to mind this discrimination now. We must be brought into mainstream.

any strings attached to this deal ?:p

Thomann bought Digital Village for the name (they quietly went into administration earlier this year then we're bought next day) then sacked all the UK staff so I wont be buying anything from them out of principle.

As opposed to the administrators winding the company and sacking all the staff? What's your point?

The reason DV went into administration was they were utterly insolvent and their wage bill was one if the major causes for this. Did you expect whoever bought the company to keep operating the enterprise at a loss?

Administration does not mean closure . Other buyers if given the chance could /would have kept on more staff and stores. There would no doubt still be job losses but not on the large scale Thomann made. The pre-pack sale has been widely slammed within the industry.

As far as I was aware it was music store .de that purchased dv247 not thomann.
Personally I had terrible experiences with dv247 before they went into administration.

Back to the guitar in question, they are great shame they only do it in my two least fav colours :-(

USA Gibsons are. There are a few Chinese made guitars with the licensed Gibson logo on, check in your local Cash Converters or the like and you may see what I mean.

Chinese Gibsons aren't made under license. they're copies, some very good - but not gibson product. - only Epiphone comes from china which is 'gibson approved'

My dad bought a guitar with the "Gibson" logo on from Cash Generator, I was like "you stupid fool, they'd never have a real Gibson in there for £90." He said "prove it's not real." So I googled the guitar, which had it's own model number, and it was basically an entry level guitar, sorta like the ones you get from Argos with an amp. The guitar did state it was made in China, that alone told me it wasn't the Gibson we all know and love/(hate?), but it was a product of the Gibson Corp so to speak. I've been playing guitar for many years, I actually own a Gibson Les Paul Studio, and a Gibson SG Standard.

I'd love a Gibson but they are too rich for my blood. I have a Hagstrom Viking Deluxe which is modeled on the 335
