Yeh same here.. looks so strange and I don't like it. Still half tempted though at that price, just for use at home. No way could you take that out of the house looking like that.
But for 150 more you can have this (also on sale): dawsons.co.uk/gib…BwE

Don't know what you guys are on about but seems a good price..l Wish I could play one - so cool!

That's why it's cheap. You can get most of their 2015 line cut price because guitarists hate the Min-e-tune machine heads because they are in general, luddites who are scared of change.

Got a Gibson Les Paul with hard case for £280 off here last year because it has auto tuning machine heads

Down from £699 million???? That's not a bad discount I guess.

Couldnt they be changed?

OOS. Just as well as i really don't need another guitar!

I suspect you're right about that, but part of the "problem" might also be the neck profile; it's asymmetric, something you tend to either love or hate. I've tried a couple of guitars in the past with asymmetric neck profiles and personally found them to feel very comfortable to play, but that option only seemed to exist on some seriously pricey models (there was an ESP about 15 years ago I remember playing at a music show that was *so* easy to play, but cost about as much as a good used car!). If you've never tried one, they're definitely worth a test drive (test widdle?).

If I hadn't just bought a graphics card I'd have probably bought this before commenting! The only slight negative from my point of view is that SGs don't seem to have the low end heft you get on a Les Paul-sized body. Horse for courses though, obviously.

So what's the deal with these? The guitar tunes itself?

To be fair that min e tune system was awful. Atleast in my opinion obviously. The instrument I used with it was...it just didnt work

And thats exactly what we did

57 classic pickups are top-end. Worth £100 by themselves.

Ive found myself considering it. Must. Resist. 😬

people, USA made guitar, £399, no brainer,

Never played a Gibson SG, but the other half said no more guitars....

I would put just one normal tuning peg on it .

I gave in and bought one. GAK are now including a free pack of Elixir strings to boot.

I play mostly rock and blues and this thing really surprised me. It's just perfect for both.

The neck is a joy to use. I usually like thick necks and this is kinda in between. Fills your hand and it tends to make me play more accurately when playing lead - no doubt because it is asymmetric.

The pickups are a great match for the body and tone woods. Thick smoldering tones with nice articulation when playing lightly and a fat punch when you dig in. I also noticed how the whole guitar resonates when playing. You can really feel the head stock vibrating when tuning which is a good sign.

The tuners are really accurate and feel stable.

A very expressive instrument. I know a good guitar when I play one for the simple reason that I can't put it down once I start playing.

I have been playing for 24 years and I own 14 electrics ranging from Custom shop Gibson Les Paul's to vintage strats and in my opinion this is a GREAT player. Sometimes the tone from a Les Paul is just too much and the tone from a Strat is just too little and too familiar.. and that's when something like this just fits the bill.

If I had to sum up the tone in one word it would be 'smoldering'
