This is probably the best unlimited data deal £12 a month rolling one month contract

Tethering is not permitted on £12 goodybag.

August 2014 ** UPDATE**

giffgaff is changing the £12 unlimited 3G goodybag referred to in this deal. There appear to be two possible options 1) Unlimited 3G data will increase to £20 and the £12 goodybag will only offer limited data or unlimited 3G data will disappear and be replaced with an 8GB 3G allowance. 4G is excluded from the above.

Also be aware of giffgaff new Traffic Flow Policy that is being used to ban customer from further purchases of unlimited goodybags (should it continue) if too much data is used of at the wrong time. There are also plans to implement a system to throttle customers at 128Kbps (?) for 30 minutes during peak times if they use more than their "fair share" (?) of network resource.

Is there still a restriction on tethering though? Still a great deal (I've been using it for months) so have some heat

Yes I'm afraid there is they're still strict on that

you can tether on gigabag credit and £10 goodybag or less.

nothing new here was on the £12 for awhile and now on the 4g which needs way more data

I get maximum 0.3M download speed in the area around home, not really useful even if it's unlimited....

O2 is one of the worst networks for coverage in the UK. They're cheap for a reason.

Would be a steal with tethering. I'm still sour I didn't pick up a three sim (the £15 one which allowed it?) before my contract ended. Now I'm on the £12 a month unlimited data, but no chance of tethering.

It's a shame, as I only want to use live traffic data in my VW Up...and that's such a small amount of bw per month.

All they say is don't download massive files or stream a lot of high def during the really busy times and they'll warn you before a ban in the unlikely event you use it that excessively. They do this so that a small minority don't really slow down the web for everyone else when the web's congested which I think is fair.

o2 are a shambles these days, cant wait till my contracts up

Is the Three 12.50 a month deal with unlimited 4G better because of the speeds? No tethering like this, and less minutes/texts, but good for high speed internet, especially in my city, might go on that, if this was 4G, would have gone on it instead.

The opposite for me guys.

giffgaff / O2 have been great for me. In the past 9 months I have tried Orange, EE and 3 and all have been poor for reception in areas and buildings for me. The giffgaff /O2 network has had solid signal all round.

I suppose everyone has differences depending on the area of use.

But how is that unlimited? it's not truly unlimited if you can't use it the way you want to. you should be able to stream as much high def as you want. Also how can you use something excessively if it's meant to be unlimited.

I tether my iPad to my iPhone on this deal and works, not heard a thing from giffgaff saying stop it

I'm on Three with the unlimited data contract at 12.90 a month. 4G is good. but their 3G network is now dire. I regularly get complete dropout of signal and no data on 3G around south east London. I was considering a move to GiffGaff

Just got this sim two weeks ago as it was the cheapest sim only/unlimited data deal I could find but I must say have been extremely disappointed with the reception received, especially when making calls On numerous occasions, in different areas (indoors/outdoors) I've experience calls dropping.

The only good thing is its a rolling contract so if no good you can leave after a month

Yeah rubbish 3G

Only 3 offer true unlimited data. Try unlimited on Giffgaff and you'll soon get a warning.

Used to use this goodybag in the past when we didn't have internet line. They will ban you if you tether but if you have a jailbroken iphone, you can use an app called pdanet to tether. This app uses different way to tether from the native app in iphone and it has a function called ''hide tether''. I used to tether around 10gb per month with this app from this goodybag and they did not ban me.

No use of unlimited, when speed is crap! Never gets over 1mbps...

I've managed 11mbs at 7.00 am and 0.27mbs at 7.00 pm, measured with speedtest.net fairly consistently on a 3g sim. In conclusion, it's better in the morning.

Hasn't it always been this price? I've been paying this since last year..

Any other unlimited data sims worth looking at apart from 3 and GiffGaff?3G is crap on both of these

I was with them about a year or so ago (when this goody bag was £10) and they kept disabling my data without warning, even though I wasn't tethering and mostly just high use down to streaming music while out and about. The support system was ok for small problems but anything else and you'd have to contact a 'agent' who would get back to you after a day or two.
Ended up leaving when they kept having network issues and went for the three £15 deal and never had any problems since.

Bold and underlined......Must really mean that (_;)

Been using Giffgaff for 2 years. This deal used to be £10, but they upped the price. Still a good price for rolling monthly contract.

Downsides are the connection strength. Half the time connection drops out.

If you're a Virgin media customer, you can get their rolling monthly sim only unlimited everything for £15 a month

I've been with giffgaff over two years now. They used to be excellent for £10, but now there are few more competitors for £12 and I've noticed that internet slowed down recently in my area, I've tried Three but was impressed ether. Can anyone comment on Lyca mobile new offer £15 (30day contract) Unlimited 4G 500mins Unlimited sms. Has anyone tried them?

This deal doesn't state its 4g. It is 3g unlimited data. Not as good

Nothing new to see here

The giffgaff network is terrible these days. I suggest you avoid like the plague. Every aspect has gone downhill recently.

Sorry guys,
Timo

Three 12.90 unlimited 4G is the best deal

How is this a deal? been around for ages and pretty much everyone on the site knows about giffgaff!

I'm sure they would not pick up on this application of tethering - they are trying to weed out the very few who want to hog massive amounts of bandwidth downloading torrents and streaming TV.

Fyi...and as a comparison, since was on the phone to "3" yesterday:

For 6.90/mon - you can get 200 mins/5000 texts/500MB data.
Now add a top up of 5 pounds -> 11.90 for unlimited data.

The "3" site is very confusing, since you would pay 12.90/mon for unlimited if you look at their site. "3" wanted to charge me 15.90/mon, and seemed to wonder why I was astonished at their kind and generous "offer". Eventually I understood the game.

The giff-gaff and "3" deal are both good; but we can always do better, with the help of HUK!

Giffgaff are about to launch 4g very soon

So this is just the standard package that they have been offering for months? Not sure how this qualifies as a deal.

As said before for an extra £3 you can get double minutes (500) and have 4g data rather then 3g on lyca mobile
they also offer 1000 mind unt. txt and 1gb 4G data for a tenner

O2 / giffgaff have been great for me. Was on T-Mobile for years but signal now too bad for home and work. Vodaphone was another possibility but I like the way giffgaff is operated.
