I'm sure you know what this is so I won't bore you too much with the details. The 8800GT, 9800GT and GTS250 are essentially the same card so look for the cheapest.

This is the best deal I could find on any of that range of cards, it has a good cooler and a HDMI connection as standard. If Nvidia is your bag and you are looking to spend under £100 I am pretty sure this is the best around. Also SLI compatible for those who like to have an easy upgrade path in the future.

this is basically a rebadged 8800gt?

Hot for me mate, nice find. Any idea what a 9800GTX is eqivilent to.

Not quite true. The GTS250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+, which is a mild improvement over the standard 9800GT.

There is little in it between that and this. The 9800GTX was released twice, once based more on the 8800GTX with more RAM and more recently based on this and/or the 8800GT (9800GTX+). Both times it has been a slight improvement over the board it was based on. In reality though they are all basically the same processor, just ran a few percent faster or slower. Most of the time you can balance the difference with an overclock.

i have this one that i got from play.com a year ago, and its never dropped in price, that was why i was wondering about the card, sorry if its a bit off topic.

I assure you that the 9800GTX+ on play at £169 is far from good value these days whether it has held it's price or not. There is little difference between that and this, other than over £100

Gigabyte say:

Core Clock 550 MHz
Mem Clock 1800MHz

which is fairly slow for this class of GPU. Cold for me.

is this better than a hd4870

No around 20% slower

can this run latest games though as my screen isn't too big, my resolution is 1280 x 1024

Yes it will run most recent games but it will struggle with crysis but then you need to spend double this to get crysis running half decent, This will be equivelant to a hd 4770 or 4830 so you may want to check the prces of those, or a HD 4850 or GTS 250 will be a little faster,
