heat, it's a pretty gd price I was lucky n got my evga sc 1060, 6gb for £238, I'm not big on gigabyte and there cards this yr are give n take but I do like the sff cards no need for the 2 & 3 fan designs on these new efficient chips, I get 2100mhz at 63 deg and 42% fan speed can hear a thing and will fit in any case I put it in, this is a good option for those looking to save a few quid or prefer gigabyte.

Nice deal. Had I not foolishly got a 970 in April, I'd be all over this deal.

What would you do in that 7 months then?

This a worthwhile step up from my GTX770 2GB 770 card?
Or should I wait for a 1070 mini deal?

It's a decent upgrade from a GTX770. Source: gpuboss.com/gpu…060
However, if you can wait for AMD's next gen cards (Vega 10 and Vega 11) which will use 14nm processors & HBM2 then it could pay off. They're due out next year. For once I've got confidence in AMD delivering something special in both the CPU & GPU markets in 2017. Only time will tell.

Ask yourself if your card is struggling at all with games? I mean the 2gb VRAM is going to hinder you in places but my R9 285 for example, while hitting VRAM limits, still plays what i want at 60fps 1080p at higher details. I want to upgrade. But simply its not worth it just to bump up to max.

The moment your card struggles when gaming is when you should comsider that upgrade really!

The 285 is a great card, I had one for a while, if it had one more gig of ram it would of been perfect, some games like the last batman that was a bit of a mess to begin with, after it was fixed still ran a bit slow , but most games with some tweaking ran fantastically, I bought the one I had used on Fleabay for 67 delivered around Feb this year, used it for 6 months and sold it for a profit! Talk about cheap gaming

Just Wondering

I think i paid £150 with the AMD gaming thing about 2 years ago. It seriously munches through most things at 1080p. Surprisingly it doesn't chug too much if you go over VRAM limits as well. I was playing Siege with only very minor dips in FPS at 3.5gb usage. It really could have done with that extra 1gb of VRAM though. Its not weak enough to make me upgrade but some games do make me consider it.

Its tough when playing PC games sometimes when you see some frame rate drops , I have 2 systems one with a AMD 290 and one with a 1060 , even with the 290 , some games still need to be brought down a notch or two , Division I notice the most seems to have issues with frame rate dips in wide open areas , lots of tinkering to get that one running smoothly on the 290 , but the 1060 sails through it but half the fun of PC gaming is tweaking things to run at there best.....

If you do upgrade , consider a 1060 though , nice card , runs quite power efficient too , but also consider selling the 285 and buying a used 290 , I picked one up for 105 delivered , I would guess you could fetch 80 - 85 for a 285 on eBay maybe more....could be a cheap upgrade..

Ah damn. Thought this was the twin cooler one then.

Yeah its just one of those things. My brother has a 1060 and its done him well - like wise my buddy bought a 290 new for likee £180 7 or so months ago and that also just flies. Could be worthwhile actually...
