CCL has RX570 for the same price, which is a lot better card
Choosing a gpu is so difficult..

I don't care for ultra gaming just want something that will run recent games at acceptable levels for the next year at least..

I need it to handle vr

And my psu can handle a gtx 680 but I think it's at its limit so can't go much more power consumption..

Do I go with this? The rx570 8gb? The 1660?

I just don't know

This draws 75w power whilst the rx 570 draws 150w, what power is your PSU?

The 680 draws about 115w, I would look into something like this due to its low power consumption or a 1660 super which takes about the same as your current card

Do you reckon this will happily play recent games medium/high? I don't care for ultra I can't usually tell the difference lol

I'm thinking I might settle with this as long as it supports vr and is at least a little future proof

Yes on medium you would get around 63fps on the new call of duty game, the 1660 super is a good call if you don't mind spending the extra

I have been eyeing up the 1660 super, just worried my psu couldn't handle it and I seem to recall someone saying it needed more ram? Is that nonsense? I've got 8gb ram

8gb ram is absolutely fine for most modern AAA games the 1660 super draws about the same as your gtx 680.... guru3d.com/art…tml

8GB ram is fine for modern games and your PSU should be okay with a 1660 Super. I would recommend one of the twin fan models, Gigabyte or Zotac as they have UK based support centres. The Palit card has a more basic cooler in comparison and a HK support centre so you'll get hammererd by shipping if you ever have to send it there. Avoid the ASUS cards.

Thank you, you've been most helpful and put my mind at ease, I may hold out a little longer and see if the 1660 super drops any more but I think 200 is around the best I've seen lately. The palit one is on for 200 on ccl

So look out for the gigabyte or zotac ones on sale! Got it! Thanks, the pc community on huk deals it's so helpful, really appreciate all the advice I'm getting
Sadly this is one of the versions that requires a 6 pin power connector. Probably better off just getting an RX 570.

Is there an issue with a gpu using a 6 pin power connector?

No not really, it's just that the main advantage of cards like these (1050, 1650...) is that they can be used in pre-builds like Dell and HP that often have custom PSUs with no 6 pin power connectors.

Otherwise I think you would be better off with a 570/580/590 as they offer more bang for buck.
I run a GTX1080 off a 450W PSU,and I had an RX570 running off the same power supply. Most review systems use high end CPUs which are overclocked so for an average system power consumption isn't such a problem.

Even with an Intel Core i9 9900k overclocked to 5GHz the total system power (at load) with a card like this (or indeed a GTX 1080) is well below 450W.
