Is it a blower?

Nope, not a blower

Hmm, tempted, but I've been put off by all this talk of a new generation of GPUs coming out this year and waiting, what do you think?

I've been holding out for a while but have a feeling there might be supply issues over the coming months given recent circumstances in China / Asia. But yes, new cards coming out and knowing my luck prices will plunge now I've purchased!

I've been wondering if I should hold on but I've just bought a 2080 super. Decided it will max out everything on my 1440 monitor for some time and the price had come down by a fair bit and I'm impatient.

Yep, I've a bunch of games that I've been holding off from starting until I got a new card. Couldn't wait any longer! Just wish card prices in general were lower at the moment, there really needs to be some more competition on price / performance.

You know it does what you want, and you've got it now. You can hang on forever waiting for the next best thing, which generally is always about 10% better for the same money... And generally hard to get, or with some kind of issues with drivers for months. Play now!

You made me feel better lol. I'll regret it when the new cards are out.

But ray tracing!!..
New Cards incoming August . Ampere 7nm 35% uplift in performance , 23% lower food consumption.
FACT . /j
Pound worth 17% less , production of cards decimated due to Covid deaths.
YMMV. YOLO.

I would be surprised if the 2080 super could max red dead redemption 2 at 1440p at a stable 60. If you do play it and it does work at max let me know so I don't advise the other way ever. My 2070 super can't even max out 1080p without some drops to around 30fps, that game is crazy.

What is the rest of your system?
I have a 3800X, 16GB Corsair Dominator 3400, Asus 570-E Strix board, Asus Strix RTX 2080 Super. Was kinder hoping this would be a capable setup

I have a 3600, 16gb gskill 3200mhz c16, b450 mortar max, MSI RTX 2070 gaming X trio.

I think it's just something to do with red dead redemption 2 because everything else is fine. RDR2 is really demanding on hardware. My friend with an RTX 2080 can run 1080p maxed out. But has to drop some settings on higher resolutions.

Most my settings are on ultra it's just a few of the demanding features that are dropped down to high (not textures they are ultra).
