    "seller refurbished"?

Yeah, hard pass on that I think
    y-so-izi's avatar
Comes with 1 year warranty... With the cost of these cards, I would expect 3 or more . Imagine spending 1k on a card and it dying after 13 months

I understand as a hardcore gamer you need to use a pc but with those prices I rather get a PS5 as if you build a proper PC where the graphics card cost already £500 you probably will end up paying 3.5 - 4k for a complete build… insane.

I can get both sides, currently being on a PS5 and previously a PS4. Done with a bit of research of prices over the past few weeks. My use case for wanting a PC is mostly mods and older games but it would be great to get a great GPU and CPU to try Cyberpunk graphics or late game Stellaris. But the current prices are just... a complete rip off. The only truly good deal posted here recently was the Lenovo one. Each day I find myself thinking... you know what, perhaps I can do another few years without a PC.

4070Ti (which is actually a renamed 4060) should be this price.
    Sikmeh's avatar
    A renamed 4080 you mean?

Still can’t get my head round these prices

I was looking for an upgrade myself, but after getting to grips with the cost of a 3070 I just f'd the idea off entirely and bought a ps5 instead for less.

£490 for a refurb card. The world has gone mad

These GPU prices are a joke

8GB at these prices is surely a very bad joke at this point isn't it?
Aside from the 3090 with it's generous 24GB, the whole Nvidia Ampere generation was terribly stingy with VRAM.
With Nvidia's marketshare way above 80% designing cards with built-in obsolescence to get people to constantly upgrade seems to be their MO.

In other words, an 8GB GTX 1070 or 8GB RX 480 had this much VRAM years ago, and this is nearly three times faster... Except when it runs out of VRAM.

Wouldn't buy a gpu with 8GB of vram not enough
    garybb's avatar
    More than enough.

I always like to imagine ‘refurbished’ involves breaking down, individual components tested and checked and replaced if necessary with any wear items like paste re-applied. Then the seller admires their work and confidently stands by their warranty period.
    spannerzone's avatar
yeah that would be nice but the reality is that someone opens the box and checks that something is inside, maybe wipes off any dust and repackages it. I serioulsy doubt anyone checks these in a pc.

@500 quid almost that is a hard pass and only 8gb is rapidly equating to a fail these days. (edited)

Very bad price for an outaded product from a greedy comapny..........
  12. Somersett's avatar
A terrible price new- an unforgivable price second-hand.

The 3070TI is an overclocked 3070, and uses too much power as a result. Of course, you can downclock and undervolt to get back the excellent power efficiency. However, remember, the 8GB is terrible for 1440P for new AAA games.

Nvidia should have simply shrunk this chip (getting better clocks and power usage) and made it their 4060, at 300 quid (killer 1080P card). Instead their actual 4060 will be 128-bit, priced at 400 quid, and perform worse than the original 3070.

Recommend the 6700XT for people complaining about VRAM. Brand new from Newegg for less than £380. Maybe not as good as the 3070ti but far better value.
    ktown's avatar
after they receive their card they might have a lot more to complain about than the vram
  14. Seanspeed's avatar
The 3070Ti was a bad deal at MSRP, and a used one for like £100 less two years later is not suddenly a good deal, come on folks. Y'all are letting Nvidia win. (edited)
  15. Hinch87's avatar
Might as well wait for the RTX 4060 Ti at this price. Which has DLSS 3 and nearing half the power consumption - rumoured to be around 160 watts TDP vs 290W of the 3070Ti.

Rip off still.. but better than paying for old tech and a refurbished one at that. (edited)
    Gkains's avatar
DLSS 3? You mean fake frames?

Nobody has ever convinced me how that would ever be useful anywhere, no matter how much hype the green marketing machine put behind it.

As far as I'm concerned, DLSS 3 is a reason not to buy.

12 months warranty at this price? Should be under £300 with such low warranty. Cold for me.

They may have been abused by mining, so watch out I was reading about these a few weeks ago. best avoid.
    Hermaphrofight's avatar
This card is a rip off but mining is not a concern.

I have a feeling this is actually brand new with a damaged / missing box, or it’s a 28 day customer return. Curry’s don’t actually refurbish stuff, do they?
