Thanks bitcoin for editing. Seems a great deal next best price on interweb I can see is like 500+.

Seems a good deal if anyone wants to grab a 1070ti. Come to think of it might be time to sell my 1070 and get this lol. 3 years extra warranty? Yes please.
I dont follow GPU prices as much as i used to, as like most people you know they're expensive now, saying that just roughly what i know this seems like a good price. Think at scan it is 490. Amazon 530. Dont hold me to these prices though. Anyway have some heat.

Another quick note, think the Gigabyte three fan was 470. Dont know if this is worth the extra 20. But all credit goes to this post either way.

Been looking at building my own pc for a few weeks now. Any thoughts as to whether I should buy this or hold off for a better deal anyone?

It's difficult to say. If crypto markets stay down, then a better deal will come along. Nvidia is getting closer to released the 2000 series, though these are rumoured to have very high RRPst.

I'd expect to see this card below £400 within 3 weeks if the markets stay down and the 2000 series is released/announced. If the markets boom again, I'd expect to see it over £550.

I'd wait, worst case scenario, sniping them at RRP is possible if you don't mind the generic cooler.

Well the gtx 2000 series is meant to be out July, however this will never fall under 400 anytime soon.

Certainly is a good deal, as it is the lowest on the market and will not be around long at this price!

Saw something on Internet saying that. Even if the 2000 series is out then these gpu prices won't drop anytime soon. If anything they will just go up as the 1000 series is ceasing production soon.
Great price! Voted hot!

Nvidia’s Volta GPU is 132% faster than Pascal (Titan P100). The 1000 series was released 2 years ago. The 2000 series will absolutely reduce the price of these higher end GPUs unless the power is significantly reduced to artificially narrow this gap.

But if the 2000 series costs alot more than the 1000 series that would keep prices up. If a 1080ti costs £800 do you really think nvidia will sell a 2070 (1080ti) for anything close to what it should be? (£350- £400?)

Of course they won't.
GPU's are set to plummet as ASIC miners are being released for Eth.

To put it in to context, it's the death kneel, similar to how Bitcoin can't be mined via GPU's either.

Expect a flood of cheap cards on eBay soon.

I wouldn't put too much hopes in that. Eth has already announced plans to brick the E3's, whether they'll actually do so is another question. Far more profitable alts to mine than Ethereum, so there's no silver bullet I'm afraid.

I always built my own but managed to snag a deal a few weeks ago now for a decent1080 system for a grand , 16gb ram etc,, couldn't have built it for less no matter where I had shopped at the time so just went with it , now and again Amazon have some stonking prebuilt deals via resellers and also if u want to take a punt on them laptops direct do some deals but can be a hit or a miss on stock customer service etc.

True about the silver bullet, but currently gone are the days of earning £15 every 24 hours, vast amount of people won't bother for £1 or willing to invest in alt coins in the hope of making serious money.

The fact people are selling off now without the release of dedicated miners causing the difficulty spike speaks volumes.

I assume you mean selling off of GPU's? I haven't seen much evidence of that as of yet, certainly there is less demand for new cards as ROI is so long in the current market. You can still pick up £2-3 per card if you know what you are doing. I think even nicehash is still profitable after electricity at the moment, so you aren't going to see any real sell off while that's the case even though the overall coin market is low.

This comment in any GPU thread in the last year. . .

The problem is the huge backlog of demand - I sold a GTX 960 for over a ton last week. I picked up the same card from eBay about a year ago for £80. I sold a 1080 blower for £540, which I purchased for a smidge over £400 nearly two years ago. It’ll all down eventually, but there is no let up in the clamber for cards on ebay, just yet.
Marekj27 m ago. It’ll all down eventually, but there is no let up in the clamber for cards on ebay, just yet.

I picked up a GPU GTX 1060 OCEX 6GB red version limited edition Galaxa (KAF2 as they are known in Europe ) from a pre-built deal I snagged a week or two back....I was quite shocked to find out that these variants of card are a miners dreams lol and they are very rarely in stock Especially in the USA , they consume on a small amount of power and have excellent ratio hash rates, which make them more profitable against other card. .lol ..What ever that means in miners terms.
I seen a graph which showed the GPU in 3rd position for profit ratio compatible against the 1070 & 1080 variants. .Crazy days indeed on the GPU scene.
Someone was selling a card similar to the one I bagged and people on eBay where going crazy on the bidding ....
The Germans seem to love this card
Crazy day`s in the GPU world ATM .. even the coin crash Lately seems not to stop the bandwagon rolling forward on eBay just now.
Best Regards,

My son mentioned to me the other day ...that he heard something about miners looking into hard drives as an alternative. ?
I really don`t know any more than what he read or seen somewhere ...But it actually made me laugh.
What next I wonder.

There are around 1400 crypto currencies. Most people using nvidia GPUs weren't mining Ether in the first place.
Just a note on the current discussion, it has been confimed that ETH will not fork, so that is the end for GPU mining for the second most valuable coin.

As mentioned in this thread, there are other coins, but it will take a very long time for a decent ROI so you're honestly just better off investing.

Bubble has well and truly burst - until the next time.

Well its about time, pascal is two years old and was just a rehashed maxwell with higher prices.

Hopefully AMD step it up very soon or we'll have another two years of overpriced cards...

There's many other ASIC resistant cryptocurrencies though, such as Vertcoin (proved to be anti ASIC by forking in the past [2014 ish]), and Monero (forking to be ASIC resistant due to Bitmain releasing a Cryptonight ASIC).

Not really the best time for building a PC to be honest, considering the inflation of GPUs. You might get a better deal buying a prebuilt pc on sale, or even a gaming laptop, even though you can't upgrade them. If you can grab a cheap GPU, then by all means go for it! But personally I'd wait
