Should I have gone for the MSI?

Nope this is the better card. Runs cooler (had wind force card before and very good), has a higher base and boost clock speed and also seems to have a higher max resolution (digital). If you are into over clocking you can also push more out of this card due to the better cooling it has!

I'd have probably gone with a R9 285 for £162.99.

But it only has 2GB of GDDR5? 3GB has to be better to meet most recent game demands.

4Gb even better but everything comes at a price.

With more powerful cards then yes more would be more beneficial as you could play at higher resolutions. The 280 is only only powerful enough to play AAA titles at 1080p where 2GB is enough at playable frame rates.

I can switch in my 2gb 750ti and play grid autosport at 4k high settings. not convinced graphics memory has that much of a hand in performance.

Good price atm, had been cheaper though. I got an sapphire one (only 2 fans) for £135

I can't comment on how hot that AMD MSI card would run..

but I have a MSI GTX 970 and with the fans not running..the temp idles between 25 - 30C.

i just sold the this to my brother.. its a brilliant card highly recomend it....

Grid is not a taxing game, At ALL. Try running Battlefield 4 or Syria at 4k and see what happens to you 750ti

Cold. New console ported games require huge vram capacity. I'd wait to 4gb vram cards for future proofing.

I have two 7990's which are supposed to have 6gb each. Actually as they're sli its effectively 3gb memory, which stinks as it is not often enough to run shadow of mordor with hd textures, especially as I game at 1440P.

This is a 1080p card. So 2gb is perfect.

Not a fan of AMD. Good price for the budget build though. I'm an enthusiast though so 980's only for me... until the 980Ti. And no price isn't a factor for me so shush before you cry about my opinion please.

Believe me I am enthusiastic

love it when someone feels compelled to make a comment about how it's only 980's for them, woah much epeen, such monies...

some people have social lives to fund, man can't live off the cold glare of blue LEDs alone.

The MSI cards had a lot of problems early on with fans failing, not sure if they're resolved now. The gigabyte card is fine.

I'm not sure you could hear my cries from your bedroom at your parent's house

Got a msi R9 280x in my system for about 1 year now and had no cooling issues. But was recently looking to SLi it just for the hell of it, but got turned off by the power demands. 800w for the full system.

Ebuyer say it does. It's right there on the "Get Deal" link.

AMD say it runs until end of January 2015 (or until they run out of codes)

When you click on the gold image 'FREE AMD Never Settle Space Edition - Gold with this product ' the next page states ''AMD Never Settle Space Edition - Gold' is discontinued; here are some similar products.'

I posted a similar deal 12 days ago (Sapphire r9 280, ebuyer, £134.99), and a poster made the same comment about that deal.

hotukdeals.com/dea…643

So, does this actually include the Never Settle games? If it does, did the deal I posted also include those games?

Original Poster

I reckon it will. It's discontinued for sale as an individual item.
Site states 300+ codes available.

Original Poster

Yours did include it too btw but price has since gone up.

That's what I thought, because when I put the Sapphire card in the shopping basket the Never Settle bundle was included as a separate free item. Oh well, never mind. That was actually the first deal I've posted. It never got to 100, probably mainly because of the comments posted regarding the Never Settle games.

This is still a good deal, anyway. Have Heat.

QBSBuck

Yeah, the price went up eventually.

Still looks like the best R9 280 deal around and with the add on.

Fail logic.

Original Poster

Sadly Amazon price match does not include the Never Settles Space - gold edition.

When i click on the link on ebuyer for the amd never settle. It says that is has been discontinued. So does that mean no more codes if we order it?

Original Poster

No, there are 200+ codes left.

It means the Never Settle Space codes are not available for individual sale.

EDIT: 190 codes left now
